I remember back in the 70'S a neighbors friend did burn out like that. When he came back down the street to admire the marks he left and a detective, who lived on the street , walked out and started writing him traffic tickets. When the officier finally retired and handed in his badge , gun & ticket book those where the only tickets he ever wrote.

What are you talking about? Pontiac never produced a 7.4 liter TA. The largest engine offered in 1979 was a Special Edition 220 HP 6.6 liter engine. The car in this video is not stock. It's a modified car. If you follow the link in the description, he has a photo of the original description of the car and it clearly states 6.6 liter engine.

@@jazmark1719 in 1973, EPA regulations restricted fuel usage and reduced performance. It took time for automakers to engineer better performance out of smaller engines. Today. My 3.5L SUV produces 330 HP.

I bought a 1979 trans am yesterday for 1,800$ no motor. The floor, and trunk pan needs to be replaced. The body is still in good shape. Went to Memphis Tennessee to get it.

And this period of time, even the venerated w series 400 only produced around 210-230 horsepower at best. Better torque numbers, I'm an early 70s baby grew up in a body/hotrod shop. Love these cars but by today's standards they are lap dogs at best

I remember getting in the back of a T/A on the way to high school. I knew I would own one some day right then! Radial-tuned suspension handled like a dream. It was like no car I had ever seen. Still like to own one again in the future!

I had a 79 WS6 package with T tops velour interior and a blue bird on the hood. One sweet car that drove like it was on a slot car grove. Awesome vehicle sitting on the ground with the special suspension.

My father had a new 81 special edition nascar trans am had that small v8 think maybe 301 turbocharged white with black trim, recaro seats, looked great but the only way you were gonna do a burnout in it was to pour oil diesel fuel and water on the pavement, it wouldn't pull a laying hen off the nest.

All the rich kids on my neighborhood drove those; which drove me insanely jealous. I still lust after that body style and it appears it's been repainted with clearcoat and has tastefully upgraded rims. The engine sounds amazing even at idle. Nice Job !!!

Fact. I had gotten a 79 Trans Am for my 81 high school graduation. Like many others, had I know, it would be close to a six figure car, fully restored, forty plus years later, I would of kept. Car was 9k new. I think my Dad paid 6K for it...smh.

Go back and get my red with black top, with matching black racing stripes 69 Roadrunner 440- stick shift! (Cragers, Mickey Thompson rubber, air shocks lift her in the back. PROPER!!!) Bucket seats (maybe GTX), and headers and hood pins and Accel Ignition. Eight tracks and last but not least... hot babes with loose morals. (there were many back then), Then a good job producing American goods and many many safe street races. Cuz I`m always looking. Oh look a GTO Judge or look a 442 W30 or look a Javelin AMX. Or maybe a AMC Rebel Machine! BBbbbuutttt nnnoooooo! crap, I should just move down to Mexico and eat good 35 cent street tacos all damn day! (Ford Mustang THERE I said it!) Actually I really liked the Cougar (classy!) especially the Eliminator. 1968 , 69, 70 Mustangs were sweet looking, if working!!!

My dad started a body shop when I was 14. Got one in. Guy never came back to pick it up. After a year, no contact, neighbor brought it home. Dads worker. That thing would smoke the tires in every gear as long as you wanted sitting still. Amazing to ride in. Lean went through. Cash in hand. Wish I could have gotten it. Massive beast.
