Thank you very much.My father has seen this these days 1979 and has told me many stories of these players.Great memories for him and fantastic thing is that is little bit less whole game! Not only few goals or great saves.

1:14:06! Remember this goal! It is the last goal of the USSR national team at World Cup 79! And it is the LAST (!) goal of Kharlamov in the World Cups!!! Последний гол Валерия Харламова на чемпионатах мира!

What is still most shocking and baffling to this day 44 years later is the NHL Buffalo Sabres Team blowing out the USSR Moscow Red Army premiere Club 6-1 and Team USA College Kids beating this same USSR National Team 4-3 less than a year after these games were played. The USSR National Team Offense Scoring during this time period was so deadly good it was not unusual for them blowing Opponents by 7,8 and 9 goals as they did against Canada in the WC 1977, Canada Cup 1981, The CSSR here in the Late 1970's, The NHL All-Star Team 6-0 in Game 3 of the Challenge Cup, the USA Olympic Team at Madison Square Garden 10-3 and Sweden 9-2 in the 1980 Winter Olympics.

The US team in the 1979 Worlds tied Czech. 2-2. That 1979 team had about 8 players that would be on the 1980 US Olympic team. Jim Craig was the primary US goalie on that 1979 US team. Kralick was a complete sieve. There were probably at the time at least 4 goalies from the US that were better than Kralick. Craig, Baker, Lopresti, Janaszak.

The Czech were tied by a predominantly US College All-Star Team on a Euro ice surface. G Craig D- O'Callahan, Baker, Korn C - Johnson, McClanahanW - Mullen, Christoff, Cox, Verchota, Strobel There were also several very good college players who were not named, for reasons I cant comprehend. D - Morrow, RamsayC - Broten, Pavelich, WellsW - Christian, Silk I remember reading a very short blurb in the Boston Globe regarding that tie. Being an enormous fan of High School and ECAC hockey in the Boston areaI knew there was some very good US NCAA talent. SI previewed the 1980team twice. Once with "Of Gold and Gophers" a couple of months into theirpre Olympic schedule, along with the Olympic preview where they predictedthey would take Bronze. I belueved they had a legit shit at Silver and if Craig stood on his head maybe a 10% of beating the USSR.

Was czechoslovakia better than Sweden backin the 70's?

The Czechs always gave the Soviets a hard time. Sweden not so much. Between Sweden and Czechoslovakia though, it was always an open affair. It could go either which way

Kralick was at best an IHL level, All Star goalie and a mediocre AHL levelgoalie.

Sure they were better than Sweden ,during the seventies were almost equal to Russians, their best team ever, even better than 1998 team.
