The game between CCCP(Russia) and Canada is always exciting. I watched the game between these 2 teams on TV in late summer 1972. I was very upset when Valery Kharlamov scored the go ahead goal to give the Soviets a 3-2 lead in Game 1 of the 1972 Summer Classic(1st period) at the Forum in Montreal, Quebec Canada

I am now listening to the 1982 World Championship ice hockey game between the Canadian team and CCCP(Russia)team. The game was played in Finland or Russia. I enjoyed listening to the game in Russian even though I was rooting for Canada. I am an American and I was born on June 18, 1953 at Freedmen's Hospital in Washington, D.C. I now reside in Silver Spring, Maryland. I sometimes did follow CCCP hockey from 1972 to 1984. Great broadcast by the Russian hockey announcer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i complimented you on Swedens olympic win over us---never made any excuses...i never whined like a baby. You should think of doing the same. All you clowns with your love of Russian players , and they do have great players BUT remember this , they were a REAL team, they played together 11 months and had at the time no choice but to do so, they were locked up and only got to see their family once a week, if you have read books by some of the players on that team, now the NHL guys are tossed together in 3 days and told, go out and beat this team , what if this NHL team had 11 months to play together ,anyone reading this think they would NOT be much better ? since the break up of USSR you can see what an advantage they once had that they no longer have , its make a big difference . They played in the 91 Canada Cup. and did nothing , 96 , 04 ,16 world cup did nothing . Olympics since the end of USSR ? Canada 3 time winner Czech one time ,Sweden 1 win ENOUGH SAID .

Gretzky's best individual game ever played and Mario playing as good a game as he's ever had. Not a good combo for their opponents. Especially on that 2 on 1, and worse, Gretzky's got the puck. May as well skate to center ice and wait for the faceoff.

Life long Bruins fan, not impressed with Phil Esposito. It is great to know that Paul Henderson publicly spoke out against the slash on Kharlamov by B. Clarke.. brutal. How he wasn't thrown out of the series is mind-boggling.. Clarke even years later: "...He hit me with his stick in the other end..I chased him down and slashed him right on the ankle. I guess i hurt him. I don't know if his ankle was broke or not. He says it was. I don't know. He wasn't the same player after that.." lol.. Coach Ferguson told him to do that.. I'd like to hear Ken Dryden talk about these matters.. Dryden's a breath of fresh air .😊

Herb Brooks was a genius for scheduling this game right before the Olympics. If the U.S. had won this game, their confidence would have been boosted immensely. Since they got thrashed, the Soviets were extremely overconfident two weeks later, and didn't take them seriously.
