This bike brings back memories. My first road bike was a 79 XS750. I had the F model though, not the special. It was a freebie given to me by my Dad. We moved from WV to NC and he left the bike in his brother's garage for a couple years. He told me if I went back to WV to get it, I could have it. Sweet! So I got a free bike. Did a mild resto on it, and that was my main bike for 13 years. No matter where I went, I had the only one of these in the crowd. Even the Harley dudes dug it. I had a Mac 3 into 1 header on mine, and when I fired it up, it definitely turned heads. Triples sound so fuckin cool! Eventually sold the bike and bought a new 1500 Vulcan. Miss that bike. On a different note, I love what you guys have done with the museum and resto shop! Truly inspiring. Hate like hell I missed the opening, and probably won't be able to make Rocktoberfest either, but I'm definitely planning on making the trip. Till then, keep her between the ditches and God bless America brother!

xs750 was my 2nd bike and your right a 3-2-1 sounded super at the time and still holds its own today. I thereafter had a m109 Suzuki Boulevard 1800cc and yet missed the DOHC 750 more👀‼️ Loved its height too at the time.. so majestic. It's back to the past for me if I can get a clean specimen and ship it back to Nairobi.

Wow, a blast from the past, I had a Burgundy 78 XS750, bought used in 1984 for $1,200 CDN, with only 1400 miles on it. I rode it for 4 years as a daily rider, and even crossed Canada on it in 1985. It was a great bike, I believe I sold it for the same price I paid for it when I sold it. Looking at what they're worth now, I should have kept it, lol!

How amazing is this! I stumbled upon this video and wow how much I love this channel and your content and concept! This video is 4 years old and shows the real you ! I had an XS 750 with a 3-1 exhaust and it sounded great and always remember the day I raced a Kawasaki Z1300 he had me on the straight road but I had him in the corners! Epic memories of these beautiful bikes!

I had one new from the dealer, forty years ago, she had 80,000 miles. I installed the xs850 oil cooler and got these miles because of this. She had electronic Ignition. I just lost her in the Camp Fire in Paradise Ca. 2018. Burned to the ground. I found another one two weeks ago, same as mine, no oil cooler, 13,000 miles and $250.00 cash. Now I saved the mounts for dressing her back to what I had. Shopping now for; Windjammer SS with leg lowers, with Cycle Sound speakers and AMP for MP3 player and head phones, Progressive front fork springs I saved, xs750 Saddle bags, luggage rack, tote box, crash bars, single exhaust I saved, full pull back bars, Saddlemen king/queen seat, driver back rest I saved no pad left, air shocks, tear drop tank extra half gallon of fuel, xs850 oil cooler with adapter plate, and everything was Skulls. She had 150 LED'S and she had fear in her at night. Starting this build now, part's arriving now. I DO MISS HER, RIP GIRL. Well if that's worth $4000.00, mine would cost twice that. Just saying. Good luck at your auction, priced a little high. Here in California on Craig's listing is yours for sale. 1978 Yamaha XS750 Special - $2700 (SONORA) goldcountry.craigslist.org/mcy/d/soulsbyville-1978-yamaha-xs750-special/7013351238.html ────────────────────░███░ ───────────────────░█░░░█░ ──────────────────░█░░░░░█░ ─────────────────░█░░░░░█░ ──────────░░░───░█░░░░░░█░ ─────────░███░──░█░░░░░█░ ───────░██░░░██░█░░░░░█░ ──────░█░░█░░░░██░░░░░█░ ────░██░░█░░░░░░█░░░░█░ ───░█░░░█░░░░░░░██░░░█░ ──░█░░░░█░░░░░░░░█░░░█░ ──░█░░░░░█░░░░░░░░█░░░█░ ──░█░░█░░░█░░░░░░░░█░░█░ ─░█░░░█░░░░██░░░░░░█░░█░ ─░█░░░░█░░░░░██░░░█░░░█░ ─░█░█░░░█░░░░░░███░░░░█░ ░█░░░█░░░██░░░░░█░░░░░█░ ░█░░░░█░░░░█████░░░░░█░ ░█░░░░░█░░░░░░░█░░░░░█░ ░█░█░░░░██░░░░█░░░░░█░ ─░█░█░░░░░████░░░░██░ ─░█░░█░░░░░░░█░░██░█░ ──░█░░██░░░██░░█░░░█░ ───░██░░███░░██░█░░█░ ────░██░░░███░░░█░░░█░ ──────░███░░░░░░█░░░█░ ──────░█░░░░░░░░█░░░█░ ──────░█░░░░░░░░░░░░█░ ──────░█░░░░░░░░░░░░░█░ ──────░█░░░░░░░░░░░░░█░

My first road bike. Man, I'd give anything to find one in that condition. I had issues with my forks and the lash in the shaft roached the dogging lever in first. The shaft sucked up the HP. I was 17 when I got it and it gave me carpel tunnel. The XS 650 would torch it for sure,

At the time 1980 Triumph had a Bonneville twin with sweet mag wheels, but no way my dad would co-sign. The XS650 Special 1980 or 81 came with an upgraded alloy grab handle not the tube and was visually more cohesive, alas it was also out of reach. The dealer Portsmouth Suzuki Yamaha sold my buddy a Suzuki 550 and me a sorry ass buzz box 400, I'm 6'2 and it just looked weird so once my road skills improved, I think the dealer saw me putting my foot down taking corners and said, no way, to anything too zippy. I grew up on dirt bikes, and they sold me a used 78 special. I was all in. Dad cosigned the loan. Anyone want to guess interest rates of a. 17yo in 1980?

I just bought a 79 tripple as a barn find for $50. I tossed a battery in it and sprayed gas in her off the bottle, it runs.A little tlc will go a long way with it after sitting sense june of 97. I ordered some rubber and some brake lines so I can see what the fuss is about with these bikes.
