I bought one of those in 1987 as my first bike and never had a bike half as good as that ever again. A ton of smooth power, comfortable ride and it never failed me. Very sad when I sold it and was even sadder when I found it being parted out at a bike store in the late 90s.

@@JorgeVonVogler unless ur are mechanically minded and have the place to work on it then probably no. Better off getting a runner. IMHO ...

@@JorgeVonVoglerUnless you know an old timer that can set the points and carburetors by ear, you should probably pass. I bought a 750 XS in the early nineties that had been sitting up for many years. My friend's dad sold it to me, (it was my friends uncles bike). Without my friend's dad who was a hardcore hot rodder back in the day of carburetors, there's pretty much no way I would have gotten the timing issues and three carburetors running together correctly! Sure, I'm sure you could do it with different tools. But my friend's dad did it all by ear. No vacuum meters or anything but his ears. Absolutely no way I could have gotten it running without his help. The low-end torque on that bike was fucking unreal.

I already have one. Same year, same color. Not in nearly as good condition, but I’ve been riding it for 40 years and it still runs great.

Beautiful vintage XS. Love the Black and Gold Models. The black paintjob, really makes the gold pop.

Bought a SP version new in '78, other than the factory problem with the gearbox ( factory recall), but repeated repair 3 years ago, great daily use bike. Very few issues at all. Now has a bikini fairing, better rear air shocks (originals were too soft for me and weaved at speed), slightly lower bars with heated grips, oil cooler. Difference to the '79 is the '78 SP has matt black motor and box. Needs replacement exhaust cans, the old ones are tired.

Mine was ridden every day for three years from new, then the middle gearbox gave up. I fitted a replacement and rode it for another year before moving up to the 1100.

Nice bike, but why is the kick-starter lever hitting the side panel? Maybe you guys need to shift it forward a few splines before it knocks the paint and gold lines off....just a thought.

Hey! I’m looking into buying a 1978 XS750. It’s only got one (1) single pipe leading out from engine block… Meanwhile yours has three (3).. Why?

I had a Yamaha 750 triple cylinder which was my 1st Street bike I ever bought. It was the best bike I ever owned. I put many miles on it until the crooked bike shop owners whom I bought it from came to my house and towed it off because they said I failed to make payments on it. That was untrue. It was simply a way for them to get 3/4 of the price & then take the bike back. Beware of this kind of scam/robbery.

I've owned two of these bikes, one in 1980 and the other in 1986; neither of them either looked this good or ran that good way back then. Whoever owned this particular bike must've kept it under glass!

Late friend had one. My 72 Suzuki water Buffalo would eat it in a straight line. I just didn't have much in the way of braking.
@BN19609 ай бұрын
Those aren't the OEM silencers - they're replicas and they're making the bike run lean. If memory serves they're made by a company called Keihan or something like that (not Keihin the carb company) If you look at the chrome of the headers vs the chrome of the silencers you'll see the difference.
