In the 1980-1981/1984 Paramount Home Video theme, the Oberheim OB-Xa patch “Jump Synth Brass” (mixed with the Yamaha GS1 patch “Piano 1/Piano”) and Oberheim OB-Xa patches “Jump Synth Brass” and “1984 Synth Sweep” were heard.

Nice! This was seen on VHS releases from 1979-1982 like "Charlotte's Web" (1973), "Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown", "James Clavell's Shogun", "Star Trek: The Motion Picture", "The Jazz Singer" (1980), "Barbarella, Queen of the Galaxy", "Downhill Racer", "True Grit", "The Beach Girls", "Apocalypse Now", Popeye" (1980), "Death Wish" (1974), "Coast to Coast", and a few others. It also appeared on laser videodisc copies of "Coast to Coast" and "The Jazz Singer", considering that the former used the Mounatain Silhouette logo on all home media releases and the latter was a non-Paramount film.

The 2005 releases have the Paramount Home Video "Feature Presentation" bumper shown at the beginning of the movie or TV series Charlotte's Web (1973) The Prince and Me Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown Star Trek: The Motion Picture Popeye (1980) True Grit Secret Central: Have You Heard? (2004) Clueless Tomb Raider: Special Edition Rugrats in Paris: The Movie Dora The Explorer: Christmas!

This is actually from 1980-1981 and was used for Hi-Fi releases in 1984.
@Watcher32238 жыл бұрын
The title and description have been corrected. As for it being used in early hi-fi releases, that's likely because Paramount didn't see the point in spending money toward making a new master tape for several years, especially for movies that were originally monaural.

I think this was a reanimated version of the Paramount Television Service logo.

I posted a comment on here b/c since youtube has changed with all that google + crap I no long know how to pm people on here.

dat font at the beginning tho!

+No. Another use of that font: the 1980's Tecmo logo.
@NoEntertainment8 жыл бұрын
yeah, but they didn't distribute vhs. i'm saying that the font looks odd for a vhs warning screen.
@Watcher32238 жыл бұрын
No. I know Tecmo didn't distribute VHS, but that wasn't my point; just saying that they used the same font for their logo that Paramount used for their copyright warning screen up until about the mid-late 1980s, when they started using Serif Gothic.

But I think it's odd for a VHS warning screen. Anywhere else is fine, whether it be video games, TV, or whatnot. Heh, maybe I'm just really picky about fonts and where they belong.
@Watcher32238 жыл бұрын
No. Nah, I know the feeling ... about fonts, anyway. I cringe whenever I see Comic Sans, Arial, or poor copies of decent fonts used on anything that's supposed to have been produced with at least some standard of value.

Am I the only one that likes this logo? Sure the Scanimation is cheesy and "HOME VIDEO" is chyroned over the "Paramount Television Service" text, but I still like it because of the neat (but cheesy) animation. I don't find this logo the worst home video logo of all time. Still, not the best logo from Paramount Home Video, but also not the worst in my opinion.
