1980 C3 Corvette AC/Heater Blower Motor Replacement

This Video was made since I couldn't find one on here for this year. I found one on a 84 but much different removal. I hope this helps someone out which is the same for 80-82 Vette. After replacing Resister, Control switch, Relay and now this blower Motor I still only have Hi Speed fan. Any comments on what I am missing, or Tips it is appreciated. UPDATE: Ended up being a defective relay switch located on the fire wall. Easiest part to replace.

Should've replaced it with the larger C4 cage. Blows 40% harder! Just requires a simple to make adapter that can be 3D printed or out of plywood. You can find the 3D printed ones on Ebay.

Thanks for the vid! I think mine just went out. I wasn't getting any heat out of my car then just recently it's making a noise so apparently it's the motor. I was going to order from Eklers. How do you like it so far? Any problems?

Well, to make a long story short, it's hard to say. I haven't had it out much and when I had the air condition system replaced it worked great the first day. Then it seemed to not put out so much but thinking it's just a vacuum leak. As far as the heat works but can't really tell the difference between the old and the new. No Problems with it so far. @@Daveloves Did you go with a C4 fan or C3 fan? I thought the C4 fan was supposed to blow more air. I am getting ready to replace mine with a C4 fan/motor so I shall soon see.

@@martytydings2206 no I made that mistake and now the blower is not much flow, besides the fact that the one shipped to me from China was disappointing but needed one. Has smaller blower cage, so will be looking for a better one soon.

Nice work. Can you tell me where that white hose that is plugged into the new blower (shown exactly in the middle of the screen, at minute 05:12) comes from and what it is there for? I have that hose unplugged in my car... Thanks

It must be the lighting but the hose is black and is just a vent hose and not sure about the real need. I just replaced it as it was connected.

Nice job. Did you notice better air flow with the new blower and after the shopvac cleaning?

Thanks. I couldn't find any thing on KZbin so decided to make one. Yes with the blower box cleaned and the nice semi-quite blower made a nice difference.

HI, Yes it seemed as it would be much harder not to so I removed it so it wasn't an issue. Bought a replacement since I was taking it out, and my older one had a broken cap.

Went to install a new one after I bought a 78, turns out it was just unplugged lmao

Did you find out why only low speed. Ive got no fan at all. Been mucking about for hours. Thinking about changing switch and relay

Hi, Glad you asked. It was my Relay which was the last thing i replaced. Took me by surprise. I removed the old (looked New) Relay and removed the cover and could see pits in the points as well as the contacts were midway between open and closed. Best of Luck.

@@Daveloves great you fixed it. Ive managed to get it working too! Well sort of, at least the high speed, and low speed (which you can just hear when you turn on ac). The middle switch positions dont. Thats the resistor i guess, but im not bothered, as now i can get the ac gassed up at last!

Roost Fezza hope this video helped you out. It could be the resister which is easy to replace. I have a brand new one that I didn’t need, if your interested am just trying sell. Sounds like resister or the speed switch that’s not easy to get to. As long as you know your relay is good then resister would be my next choice.

Did you know there are genuine corvette shop manuals that have accurate diagnoses for this problem and how to repair properly? Instead of wasting your time on removing wheels etc….

Sure thing, I even have a manual. I watched videos on youtube and couldn't find one foir the earlier 80's that's why i made this one and hope it might have helped you out as well.

Where did you get the red wire covers

If I remember right I think it was Advance Auto, or Auto Zone.
