I was workingin the area (Saratoga) and came across Mechanicville, NY in 2012. It seemed like a very unique place that was used by some of my favorite railroads! Was one of the busiest railroad crossroads in the day. Would be a great place to model!!

Great stuff. I remember when Guilford started absorbing and running through Lawrence, and then sadly destroyed the D&H. It's sad to see the Scranton-Lansdale line now as a bike trail. The old depowered Buddliners lasted another decade for the "T". I rode on those plenty of times between Andover and Boston. I love the gaggle of cabeese there coming from different local roads along with those great old Alcos. Thank you for posting this.

the day after x-mas, 1978, went to sharonville, ohio yard.(CR) in the terminal was former D&H U30-C, painted a solid D&H dark blue. had a little D&H under the cab. was on its way to mexico. also in the yard was a string of L&N/FL engines. over 20, waiting to go south, but thats another story.

All of this is gone today, all of it. It's now an intermodal facility

Wow the old mechanicville rail yard when there still was a Boston and Maine yard up on the hill and the crossover. I remember those days very well the late 70s and early 80s. The police had real character back then not like the monstrosity that's there today

I lived just north of here in the 2000s this yard went from this to a single through track, but that is all changed now it is once again a busy place after the NS take over of the BM and NS has just bought all of the former DH track to here from CP, the yard has become a itermodal yard, it is replacing Kirkwood yard in Albany, the CP retains trackage rights to Albany under this agreement, in a few years you will no longer see Pam Am trains here, all intermodal NS trains from the south and west headed for the northeast will come through here via the old EL Ny Southern Tier to Binghamton Ny, up the old DH to here, NS has given this route the name The Patriot Corridor, NS owns all the former BM Main line track and yards to Ayers Mass, NS did this by forming a company called Pam Southern with Pam Am RR the new owners of Gilford,

D&H owns the line through here. NS has rights to run on D&H.
