The May 1, 1980 International Worker's Day Parade held on Karl Marx Alle in East Berlin.
Every year on May 1, the GDR authorities held a parade in celebration of International Worker's Day. The main participants of the parade were the "Combat Groups of the Working Class" (Kampfgruppen der Arbeiterklasse), abbreviated as the KdA, was a paramilitary force that consisted of regular every day civilians who took up arms and combat training on the weekends during the Cold War.
The parade was attended by East German leader and General Secretary of the Socialist Unity Party, Erich Honecker.
