I have just changed the belts on my machine and used the recommended supplier. I couldn’t have done this job without your expert guidance. The screw behind the spring for moving the flywheel I would not have found for sure. The black gunge of the melted drive belt that came off the capstan can be used to hold the tiny screw in place on the end of the screwdriver! All working fine now and slowly getting thru my collection of compact cassettes while walking down the road boombox aloft….

❤ Thank You! Wonderful Video, again great in depth views into a 40 year old machine. Lovely to see the bulbs on and thanks for the DIN advice as i will now use this to transfer old tapes to MP3. (Possibly make tapes from MP3 in reverse also?)

Great video, very informative. I have two of these 8190's both with the same fault, when powering on they have normal volume for about 15 seconds with bright level led's then every thing fades away to zero both sound and led's, any idea's.

@@arthurpendragon7224 I would monitor the voltage at the 13V zener diode and the pass transistor (I cover this in another one of the Hitachi videos, it was a dirty power switch) and also have a look at the back of the circuit board behind the amp heatsink, see if you see any corrosion from leaking capacitors. Unfortunately the amp chip and heatsink has to be desoldered to get to the caps under there
