Sweet! Good tip about drilling a hole in the metal first to prevent split, too. Didn’t think about that...

Thanks! I hope to have a new video soon. I need to order some parts, so I'm waiting on some funds. I saw your comment on the other video about the wiring harness. I'm not sure how much I'm going to have to dig in to the one on this bike. But if there's something specific, I might be able to make a vid for you.

Nice 440. I had a 1981 I bought new while in the USAF in Germany. Drove it all over Europe and shipped it back to US. Drove it twice to CA. SC FL ME MI. Had 70,000 miles on it when I sold it in 1995. Rebuilt the engine after 30,000. My tank had a red strip on it. The 1980 Tanks had the gold strips. I know I had carb diaphragm problems when alcohol started being added to the gas. The rubber would rot after about two years and you would have to buy the rubber and metal throttle together for about $200 back then. I like your new carb because it doesn’t have the rubber diaphragm so the alcohol won’t rot anything. I put a crash bar around my engine. Saves expensive engine parts when you tip over. My bike didn’t have a grease fitting on the center stand so I installed one. My service manual shows a fitting in one of the diagrams, but my bike didn’t have this fitting so the bearings wore out. After the bearings wore out I replaced the bearings and put in a fitting. I know some of the wires get water in the couplings so I cut holes to allow the water to drain out. These wires ran along the front from the light down to the left side. They formed a cup and would fill with water. They should have been designed so instead of a cup they formed an umbrella to keep water out better. I think I still have my service manual. If you need any info from it I can take a picture and send it to you. Keep the tank full over winter so it doesn’t rust inside. I hate that alcohol, it rots rubber and causes water in the tank. They sell alcohol free gas near me. I would look here to see if you have some available in your area. www.pure-gas.org Hope you get your bike running.

Also, make sure you use premium gas. I used regular gas and melted a hole in one of my pistons. Since then I will not use regular gas in a motorcycle.

I made a mistake about the grease nipple. It was on the swing arm, not the center stand. P 209 of the 1980 1981 service manual shows the grease nipple but my bike a 1981 KZ440-D2 made in Nebraska didn’t have the fitting.

@@yeynelyrodriguez6914 I used a Mikuni VM34, but some folks use a VM32. Getting your jetting dialed in is a little bit of a challenge (I never got that far). But in my third video, I reference some resources for more information in the description.

Hi Tony, I haven't even looked to see what came with the carb. But I think I'm going to try a 145 main and a 20 pilot with the clip in the middle position.
