Best chaser 0f 80s never forget he slaughtered Burrough hill lad giving 21lb at wincanton,beat him on the bit. Greatest period ever chasers where top class gave away upwards of 2 stone or more in handicaps and won silver Buck and bregawn won races giving away 35 lb. Too scared present day. The Greats of the 80s.

The funny thing is, there was a debate before the race about whether she would stay 3m. And the way she battled on at the finish proved she did, at least on a track like Kempton. In spite of this, her connections kept her at 2 or 2 1/2 miles for the rest of her career. Would be interesting to see what would have happened if she'd been tried over 3m for longer. Still a great mare regardless. Also great to see this race in full, cheers brianwestham, real trip down memory lane this.

I backed Anaglog's Daughter this day. I was hoping that the combination of tight, flat course and her 2 mile speed might see her home. The fact is, she didn't stay and Silver Buck was a superb 3 mile chaser.

People forget what a good horse Silver Buck was. He always just did enough to win and would have won this without Night Nurse's unseat as he was the braver battler or the two and Night Nurse was no shirker in a fiight

If Anaglog`s Daughter had jumped better she probably would not have been caught. This race was very similar to the 1987 King George where Desert Orchid, Cybrandian & Beau Ranger set such a ferocious gallop.

mervyn charter can't see any way anaglogs daughter would beat silver buck however she jumped or however the race was run. Carmody made the mistake of going after the Irish mare a long way from home when he could have waited and used silver bucks speed over the last 2 fences and would have probably won much easier. I think he panicked and didn't need to. People forget just how good silver buck was. Night nurse never beat him and the suggestion from oaksey that he would have if he stayed up was fanciful. Some horses never quite get the credit they deserve for being how good they are and silver buck is one of those and saddest of all was how his life was cut short in such tragic circumstances when he had earned the best retirement anyone could even ever have.

Silver Buck was class,result would be no different.would be king George winner 3 times but for abandonment. Top chaser of the 80s often giving stones away,powder puffs of today too scared too try

@@keithmaxine7163 Real shame 1981 King George abandoned- would have been a great race- Just look at the Final Line up declared- Artifice, Captain John, Fairy King, Lesley Ann, Little Owl, Night Nurse, Royal Bond, Silver Buck, Sointulla Boy, Sunset Cristo, Wayward Lad. Anaglogs Daughter was declared a non runner due to travel difficulties with the bad weather. However her trainer said she would run if the race was postponed and run 3 days later.

could`nt agree more. she made at least three terrible mistakes, jumped out to the left at many fences, yet gave the great silver buck and night nurse in their prime a race to remember. If she did`nt get injured she could have developed into a Gold Cup Horse like Dawn Run.
