This is so true! People pay 200k for houses in the same condition as this trailer. I love how budget friendly they are as well. My family thinks I'm crazy when I tell them I want to purchase a cheap mobile home or house and remodel it but this right here shows the potential and how cheap it can be done.

When my grandma retired and moved after purchasing land she bought a trailer. She had lived in one before and liked it. Since it was on her property she added a trailer long additional room. It was used mostly to grow things during the winter and for sitting. I lived in a very big trailer in South Texas for 5 years. I liked it for the size. It wasn't mine and didn't want to spend money on it. I did have to replace the bathroom floor after a family of possums found an opening under the trailer and destroyed that part of the floor. The landlord fixed underneath. No biggie. They're strong creatures when it's cold and they're looking for someplace warm. :)

They didn't float the subfloor. Basically means they didn't make the subfloor smooth before the did the install. If it's not fliated it will show everything through the vinyl every crack and nail. I would have them redo the whole thing. After all you did pay for a job done correctly so that's what you should get. Your money is as good as everyone else's.

Nice job. Very cute. We have owned a 1970’s 14 x 70 mobile home that looked a wreck outside but good inside. We painted the dark paneling and added a new kitchen. The main area and layout is just like yours. It is adorable and so functional. We picked it up cheap as a summer cottage two houses from the lake. Now we use it for friends and family to visit as we rehabbed a nearby larger 80’s modular home for ourselves. I highly recommend it. They are so easy to care for!

You have set yourself up with a lovely little home that will allow you to live below your means! I love the way you’ve decorated. It looks so pretty and cozy! Your kitchen might just be bigger than mine, and I’m in a 4 bedroom home. I would check out the support under your floor. The way your vinyl flooring bubbles looks like the floor might be sagging. If your dad is handy, maybe he could help get it properly supported. Our home had a very fancy 80’s shower curtain with heavy drapes over it in the main bathroom. Something designed by a professional decorator. Very inconvenient. You couldn’t see to shower and shave your legs. I pulled that monstrosity down and installed (DIY) glass shower doors from Home Depot. It was such an improvement! They look better, easy to clean, and there is plenty of light in the shower!

I wish more people would seriously consider older mobile homes especially to start out in. People are missing out and way overpaying for homes these days. We bought a 1976 14 x 70 model in 2002 as a vacation home instead of renting camper space. Finally after 22 years and several minor remodels we are doing a proper renovation and it is turning out soooo nice. Anyone with some carpentry skills can save tons of money over renting. Our place is on 1/2 acre of our own land. They are very simple to work on. They are awesome for people wanting to downsize in their older years and for singles and couples people just starting out not wanting to throw money away on rent. We are going to offer this as a vacation rental and move into it once we are ready to downsize.

Idk how I missed this video when you posted it, but I did.. Anyway, from seeing your little apartment before to getting to see the progression through the purchase of your home and remodeling of it, I am amazed at how quickly you've gotten it all done truthfully! I bet it feels like you've gained so much more room since you were able to fully move in! Plus the freedom of having your own place... I had done a similar thing back in my 20s, going from apartment living to a mobile home. I ALWAYS called it my home too! I would never allow anyone to say it was just a trailer, bc it wasn't too me. I did get mine new and paid abt as much as you did, if you include all of your renovations. I think mine was $1,000 to $2,000 more. You did way better than I ever would have. I was working long hours and would not have had any idea abt how to do any of the things you did! Back then, I knew nothing abt renovation.

Beautiful - quite an inspiration. Five years ago I bought a smaller “junk” house for $11,000. Its 864 sq. ft. two bedroom with an attached 624 sq. ft. garage/shop on a 1/3 acre and a four car driveway. I’ve spent ~ $18,000 to fix it up and get some new and some used furniture. It’s modest but it’s really perfect for my needs. I’ve still got a ways to go, need a new roof etc. Day by day it slowly has become a nicer place. I appreciate the work you have put into your home, great results!
