I've got one of those that I bought at a garage sale in very nice condition. Re-padded it and it is SWEET!! Looking to find a T880 to go with it, will keep looking. Also looking for the original A880 case in good condition.

Awesome! My son plays an 880 alto although he’s been playing my Mark 6 for awhile and I have a feeling I’m not getting it back!

I have one on its original pads. They've held out quite well. The biggest adjustment I've made to mine was to relax the springs, which out of the factory were rather stiff. My only other big criticism is the case. There is insufficient support around the neck slot, and it will often fall out during carry.

I’ll have to check the case for that. The pads don’t look crazy bad. Except for the low C#. I didn’t put a light in it so it could be an easy adjustment but I’ll just end up re-padding it to ensure everything is perfect.

How would you compare the older yanis to the modern ones ergonomically and soundwise?

I’m going to get my buddy over and compare the two. He plays a 991 so it would be a fun comparison. I think the ergonomics are pretty much the same.

I love the front F pearl too. Seems like you could get a killer horn if you snagged one of these for the right price and got it overhauled. I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on how the 880 (and other older models) compare to the WO series, playing-wise.

Sorry for the late response but that would be a good comparison. I have had too many WO saxes in but I tend to really like the 880s as well as the previous models. The pearls on this sax are really beautiful.

Good afternoon l watched the entire video. From what l observed it just needed repadding not a complete overhaul .l am interested in an 880 yani tenor. Could you give an idea how much l may get one for. I will be in the USA shortly. Keep them coming. I am looking forward to the review after you have done your eork on this horn.

Thanks Keith. Overhaul and repad get used a lot. The keywork is so tight that It’ll be an easy job. Clean, replace all the pads, corks etc then all the adjustments. Luckily since it’s mine I don’t need to worry about figuring out the price for less labor. I think an 880 in this condition with a quality pad job would be around 3k retail. You could probably find one needing work for around 2k or hopefully less. Thanks for your support! Scott

Nice condition, except the pads. Looks quite similar to my 1986 T-800 Tenor. Differences: no double arm keys, no tilting pinky table, no elongated F pearl (and no underslung octave key), but the rest ist virtually identical. It was repadded some ten years ago, even had moth holes in some pads! I like how it fits under my fingers, but am not so happy about the sound. Switched to Cannonball recently, that gives me a much fuller sound.
