I own a Yanagisawa Tenor and I agree they are simply the best saxes made today.

Had a T800 long time back, miss it still, lovely tone & ergonomics. Now have Yamahas.

I love these 880’s I have sopranino through baritone in my collection. My alto has a solid silver body.

I picked up an 880 in 1984 new. Still have it after over 30 years! Like you said - nice fat sound. Still plays great with original pads! Time to take it in though - lower register isn't coming through. All in all it's a very well made sax!

I have one of these and it's fine - but would I gain anything by getting a Selmer Mk IV?

Hey Matt, have gained so much from you and your vids, and I thank you. What is your opinion of the T-4?

Thank you for this review! Are there major differences between the T800 and T880? Thanks for your time

This is the first video of yours I've found mention of soldering the bow-to-body joint. Have you observed any improvement in replacing an epoxy joint with a soldered on in cases where the epoxy was *not* leaking? I'm considering whether to have this done on my 992 or not. Subject of a future video?

very interesting video Matt, thank you for posting. Bought my Yani in early 80's with s/n 106373 but it does not have the under-slung octave mech. Is it an oddity? P.S. i chose it over a Yamaha because of its darker fatter sound - I love it.

You should have the model 800. From what I understand basically the same horn minus ribbed posts and under slung octave key and maybe a few other bells and whistles.

+Matt Stohrer thanks man, i have my doubts cause here have the same price of an YTS52 and there is not much info on the internet about the level of this sax (im speak spanish)

@@matinofxhc yanagisawa does not make any student horns. Yamaha makes great horns but Yanagisawa makes a superior saxophone. I own a TW01.

A majority of sax players are beginning horn players with no real concept of sound and the response and feel of what a horn should produce...
