Thanks Timewaster. I really appreciate it. I loved building it and learned a ton of stuff about Toyota's from this era.

Hey I wanted to ask what kinda front axle did you buy because I got a Toyota 1980 sr5 2wD I want to swap it to 4wd so I am watching this so I can buy a couple of things was it off a 83 Toyota

Are your leafs backwards? That shackle angle is pretty rough man you want the exact opposite where your frame tube jigs went. What front leafs are you running?

Honestly, I have no idea. I’ll have to look at them when I go out to my truck. This was my first Toyota build and there weren’t springs on the front for me to compare them to. Any input and expertise is greatly appreciated

Yer man shackles are angled the wrong way, they can lock up on the frame!

Sadly I recently sold the truck. It was a fun project while I was building it but it ended up taking up space in the garage and proved to be more of a headache than something that brought me joy. I'm going to set up my shop soon so I may be posting videos about that process soon.

Looks like the tubes in the frame are crooked and just tack welded in , I would go to a ifs 4wd steering box and push it right up the core support, looks like your steering will bind

You have a keen eye sir. You're correct. I was initially doing this project in my parking spot at my apartment complex. It was all good until a regional manager did a tour of the property and saw my truck up on jack-stands. He wanted it towed immediately so I had to scramble to get it on wheels so I could roll it from the parking spot into my garage. It was quite a day. The stock 2wd steering actually worked really well with a high-steer kit. I had an IFS steering box and the mounting kit to install it but I never got around to that project.

Mate I have 2 Hilux 1 4*4 the other 4*2 The 4*4 hast lots of rust and body damage The 4*2 is better condition I want to mount the hole can and tub into the 4x4 chasis On your experience would that be an easier work How difficult do you think that would be
@willsanburg1003 Жыл бұрын
So you're wanting to put a 2wd cab and bed on a 4wd chassis? I think as long as they're both short bed models or both long bed models then you'll be fine. The mounting locations should be exactly the same. I'm not certain how difficult that would be but I'm guessing it wouldn't be a terribly difficult project. Let me know how it's going.
