You can run 50:1, if you wanted the rings and cylinder liner to wear out faster,--and make less power. People in the know for dirt bikes did not let the environmentalists tell us to use less oil, and I still tell them to pack sand to this day.

I like the “air- cooled at it’s peak” idea. 1980 was so great for Yamaha. These bikes are the wet dream of the current bikes at the time.

She doesn't even look small with Ken onboard, I'd love to own this baby and live in the rocky mountains in a log cabin with a blonde and brunette, a nice large armoury and dog's and cats, that's me happy as I'm not greedy 😄

The 125H was my first MX bike when I was 15. The H was the first liquid cooled YZ and had the radiator mounted on the steering yokes. They suffered from leaking coolant from the steering seals... but what an awesome top end power delivery ! Great bike. Sold it for £300 😩

@@potheadpixi had the 81 Rm125. Wish it was the Yamaha. Don't get me wrong, I loved that RM to death, it just wasn't as good as the YZ or CR that year.

@@potheadpixi Yea, I had the 1982 YZ250 with the radiator behind the front number plate. It would blow a steer tube seal and watch the grease from the lower bearing, blown on the fender and drool down the back side. I had to replace the seals once a year, and repack the lower bearing. It was easy to see when the maintenance was needed though.

You sure know how to pull a mans Strings don't you Ken! I bid on a few bikes on eBay of yours but recently my password got hacked! That tank looks almost metal but I know that It couldn't be. That bike is gorgeous...for anyone who races when u were able because of your high ranking position in modern two stroke days u could purchase front factory forks they were a mere ten grand easily surpassing the cost of a stockbike.but for any PRO or serious Amatuer the front forks are the most important part of a race bike because if u can't hold and operate the clutch and brakes and steer the bike in rough terrain at speed the best motor and rear shock ain't worth nothing. I think those forks were 2500dollars back in the 1978ish....new and so was the bike hah hah .THANKS

@@KaplanCycles Maxima Castor 927. Yep, a good enough oil. But by actual durability dyno testing by some friends of mine on small high performance RC gas 2-stroke engines, they found the Motul Kart GP 2-t and the Klotz supertechiniplate to be their best choices so far. The 927 failed their resting faster, and they are not sure the Castor smell is not just "perfume". Klots shows 20% Castor in the mix on the bottle, and the 927 has no mention of it. Still, when I tore down engine using the 927, it was doing it's job for real world usage, (dyno is much harder on the engine. Testing was wide open at peak hp @ 16,000 rpm for a half hour straight.).
