Produced in the 1980s, this Cold War National Guard recruiting film shows the Guard conducting war games with Bell helicopters and M-60 and M-48 tanks. Voice-over explains the importance of the Guard and the benefits to being part of the nation's oldest branch of military service. Basic training is shown. A drill instructor is shown at 2:00, and advanced training at the 4:20 mark including truck driving, welding, cooking, computer operations and more.
Women members of the Guard are also shown.
The film also shows Army National Guard working in a disaster zone, emplacing a bridge over a flooded river, and AT or "Annual Training" where war games are conducted for two weeks.
Portions of the film are said to faintly resemble the first third of "Full Metal Jacket". Musical score towards the end of the film is very "Tangerine Dream". A great '80s film!
