I got this fan off Facebook marketplace a while ago and made this video when I got it, and am just uploading it now. the most common mistral ceiling fans is the MCFLA48 Style 3, with the plastic flowerpot canopy and metal blades. the fan I have here is an early 80s one, with a plastic bell canopy and cane blades, despite the box having a picture of the older style flowerpot canopy. they also made metal bladed ones in the 80s, however with the plastic bell canopy. despite all of this, any variation of mistral fan is rare, in any of the size and any of the colours.

I bought the same fan too!, Turn out I know the exact year and well I'm shocked this fan is 15 years old this is a later model which had the screws to hold the canopes in place, The guy I bought it off told me that its a 15 year old ceiling fan and well the history of mine when it was new was planned to get installed in a skinny 2 story house to blow the hot air down and then well that never happened but mine never came with the controler so maybe he installed it one day and never got around to finishing off then he was going to install it in another house but he didn't have room so then it sat in another town with him for a while when he built a home 4 years ago but he didn't have room to install it so when he found it he sold it on a auction site where I won it at $51.00

interestingly enough the reversible 5 speed controller was used on reversible models form the 70's right up until the 90's the earlier ones have red writing for winter mode and grey for summer and have the colour logo.

Hi Mate......I have a ceiling fan similiar to your Mistral..3 cane blades,controller but mine has a light...its a nice piece...when we used to make things in Australia.I wonder if you would have some advice? A few days ago I noticed the top canopy had slipped down and I could see the ceiling and then it seems to be sitting on the smaller canopy which rubs on the top of the motor.....not sure how to fix it...Thanks for your time.
@willpower3544
@willpower3544 2 жыл бұрын
I have one that’s like that. The older mcflas don’t have screws in either canopy, there just friction fit, and so they wear out when they’re 30 or 40+ years old. The way I fix it is I put cable ties on the downrod and set the canopy’s to sit on them. If your lower canopy is dragging on the motor put one under it so it sits on it and do the same for the upper canopy.

next time I have it up I will. I had it up in my bedroom for a while, however, it developed a scraping noise with every revolution, and I couldn't sleep with it. I will demo it at some point, probably when I get my phone fixed, so I can film it in HD instead of my camera which isn't as high image quality.
