1980s Sandburg Elementary School Halloween Parade & Party - Popular 80s Costumes in 1989

Check out some of the best Kids Halloween Costumes in 1989 at Sandburg Elementary School in Littleton Colorado! Every 80s kid looked forward to this day all year! Especially the Halloween Parade around the school to show off your custom made costume you worked so hard on. Just like my other video from 1986, you'll notice a lot of banned costumes and accessories that would never be allowed in schools today! Some of most popular costumes in this video were E.T., the Noid, Freddy Krueger, Jason, Batman, Spiderman, Snow White, Ghost Busters, Wonder Woman, and even Dorothy with her real dog Toto!!

Came across this by accident...and it brings a smile to my face. I was seven years old in 1989, living in Irving, TX at the time. Went to my first Cowboys game on Thanksgiving that year against Philadelphia (Bounty Bowl). It's so incredible to see these images now and think "gee, I remember this or that!" with a chuckle, knowing that these moments will never be forgotten -- even as we all get older.

In the early to mid 1970s in Los Angeles, the elementary school Halloween parade in the morning was the perfect endorsement from the school, from the community, that Halloween fun was wholesome and accepted.

The Pee Wee in this video was one of my good friends growing up. I loved watching the Pee Wee Herman show on Saturday Mornings as a kid. I have some recordings of it. I showed it to my kids and they thought it was so weird… 😂

1989 what a great year I was 13 back then Batman was a hit at the box office and the 90s was just around the corner Halloween was a fun time in the 80s especially those parades in elementary school and then the party with sweets at the end we usually had half days on Halloween and you and your friends would make plans to go trick or treating together that day good times thanks for sharing

It’s funny because I never realized how much stuff and how many books there were in the classroom. And don’t forget the class pet! Every class had either a bunny, gerbil, fish, turtle, etc.

I was 7 in 1989. I was a sugar plum fairy for Halloween that year. I think we went out on the blacktop behind our school and had a Halloween costume parade and a party in our classroom.

I was a High School Jr. when this clip is dated. While not noticed here, my fave costume in Elementary School age was Superman, & it came in a box...all the rage before '85. It consists of a mask held on by a rubber band, a vinyl smock of the known Superman Uniform & a separate tie on red Cape (A MUST). I remember doing a parade with my costumed schoolmates & then partying with junk food & music & maybe some dancing. I'm open to hearing from the kids of this clip on how they feel about this today in their current adulthood. Looking at this now is rather nostalgic...no pandemic & no forced masks😆.

My brother had that same Superman Costume!! Looking back, Halloween was my favorite day at school! The Parade, popcorn balls, bobbing for apples, and all the fun activities and crafts.

I remember. Don't hurt anyone with toy guns in school & no 1 cared. Today, kids get shot by Cops...with a real gun. To call that SCARY, is more than an Understatement... 6ft under😱.

When I was a kid I didn't dress for Halloween. My mom was an unemployed alcoholic and the kids made sure to make fun of me for being the poor kid who couldn't afford a costume. All these years later most of them never left the crappy little town, still live in a trailer park and I live in a house in a city making $35,000 a year working from home. So who's laughing at who now? Especially you, Amanda. Hope it worked out living in a crappy trailer with that football jock who turned out to be a drug addict. Have fun waitressing that dive bar for the rest of your life while I go hop in my water bed and watch ancient Halloween videos on my huge TV that makes my bedroom into a theatre. 😎
