This short U.S. Army National Guard recruiting film "Armor" shows the then-new M-1 Abrams tank being put through its paces, as well as the M60 Patton. The war games shown also include infantry and APCs, and probably take place at Ft. Benning. The film dates to the 1970s or early 1980s and includes "Star Wars" type sound effects and synthesizer music, and Hollywood style cinematography.

Early 80's. Those were original M1's from the 70's, some would have been built by Chrysler. The M60's looked like A2's, still had the dopey spotlights on them. My first tank was the M60 A3. Had better optics than the M1's on active duty at the time. You could tell they were Guardsmen because big Army didn't think the Guard needed Vehicle Crewmen jumpsuits.

The M-60 was still a good looking tank. I don’t think the Guard had M-1’s. My Guard unit was flying Hueys in 1980 while the Army had Blackhawks

M60 A2 was an experimental turret with an 152mm round..The tank was nicknamed "Starship"...So the video has either A1 or A3
