You just brought back a part of my childhood. My aunt would make it really special around the holidays and let me sleep over. Every year the blanket would be left with a cookie in a stocking and a note from the elves that they left this for me to cuddle up until Christmas. I had to leave it on Christmas for Santa. Magically it would appear next year, even into adulthood we would check for the blanket. If we were naughty there was a piece of coal instead of a cookie and the same blanket in black with coal in the middle instead of the tree. Sadly,she’s no longer here and the blanket must have been left at the North Pole. Thanks to your channel I can make a throw and give it to my kids. Thank you so much for sharing this. Really love your channel and love the way you teach so easy to understand and do. I can’t really read a pattern, no one around me ever croqueted, except me, I had to teach myself without internet.

Hey Corina have you thought about doing a live session? We could do a fun chat and CAL?! With music low in background. That would be so fun.

Wow! That is outstanding! I've used the alternating sc/dc stitches in Santa beards & hat brims - looks just like curly hair/fur! Love how the popcorn stitches make the tree stand out so beautifully. Not up to a blanket, but this will make a beautiful pillow top! Soft size 5 yarn with the border extended to fit a pillow form. Maybe do the top popcorn in gold or yellow for a tree topper. I HAVE to make one! I've always wondered why you pull the old thread to the front when you attach a new color and then pull the old thread to the back to start working. Thank you for explaining that! Yes, I was that "but why" kid! Thank you for another excellent tutorial and for a new technique to improve my work!

A friend sent me a link to your videos and I have enjoyed wasting too much time watching them. Keep it up! I have this pattern in a magazine in my basement. It was my moms. Either I stole it or she hid it on my shelf when decluttering. Not sure which. Most of our patterns are communal property. I made this when I was... 15ish. Mine didn't look that good. I also sewed the squares together with a yarn needle bc I couldn't make the corners look right when I was single crocheting them. This wasn't a vintage pattern when I made it. I kinda feel old now. :)

So cute! You know, I don't have a Christmas blanket. Yet. My birthday is Christmas & you'd think I'd have at least one. 🤣 Nope. So, I'll be doing this one as soon as I get the yarn. I already went to etsy & got the pattern downloaded. Thank you very much 😁

I've said it before and I'll say it again: you make the neatest stuff! Okay, I've gotta make this pattern. But not as a throw. No. I'm going to use DK or sports weight (or maybe fingering, but I think that'd be too small-gauge swatches, ugh!) and make placemats! Six squares (two by three) should do it nicely. I'm not a fan of raised joins, so I'd whip stitch through the back loops only, which produces an attractive little ditch. ETA 1 hour later: Ordered the yarn! 1 skein red, 2 green, 3 "linen". How many placemats? Don't know. I'm just going to keep going til I run out of yarn. Love that border. I'm finishing up an afghan (classic granny squares with MC purple) and I've been puzzling about what to use for the border. I think I've found it-thanks!

Dark colors for a Victorian feel. Neon colors for pop art. Black and white for high contrast. So many ways to use one pattern! ❤

I think I remember that pattern when it came out. It was one of the first of that "format" in the popular crafting mags and books. Is it McCall's? Seems they started those popcorn squares thing.

May make this with different colors cuz I need to get rid of some colors. How many average sized skeins would you say this will take? Sorry I have all my yarn in a bin without wrappers so I have no clue their size or how many yards they are.

Hi! I am in the UK and wondering if I can use Double knitting wool and maybe a smaller hook for this? I believe the equivalent over here to what you are using is Aran wool- at least that’s what Google says 😊. I already have some DK in white/green/red but as this would be my first attempt at a project like this I don’t want to buy other wool in case I can’t do this pattern. Any advice gratefully received!
@drewrobertson-gouge13510 ай бұрын
quick question (and sorry if you addressed this and i just missed it), but why does the pattern call for alternating the single and double stitches with the white on the cluster rows?
@monkie9281Ай бұрын
thanks for the video! still somewhat new to crochet, would be useful to see how you incorporated the green in the single crochet row in the beginning since that is a new concept to me. i am having a hard time getting mine to look like yours, any advice? thanks! edit: also would be helpful to show how to weave in the excess yarn at the end, not sure how to do that successfully
@ashlyndenny177022 күн бұрын
I’m stuck too! Did you figure it out ?
@monkie928121 күн бұрын
@@ashlyndenny1770 hi! for the first single crochet row that uses the green, i did 5 white, 4 green, then 6 white and i felt like that turned out nicely and matched with the video for the next row. in regards to weaving in the ends, i looked up a few tutorials on youtube and then asked a coworker for advice and was able to weave them in somewhat gracefully lol

I have tried this over and over without ever getting to the end, something doesnt match up with my stitch count and im lost after row 2. I cant guess what happnes in row 3 trying to put it together from subsequent rows. It never turns out 😭
