Kevin Von Erich would battle Arn for those belts. Adams and the Von Erich’s would bury the hatchet and feud with Gino and the Horsemen. The Von Erich’s would also battle the Russians, tag with Dusty and Magnum…they would have taken the Iron Sheik and had USA vs Russian/Iran teams. Nikita would become one of the best heels ever.. There would also be a 6 man NWA World Tag Team belt as there would be so many good matchups. One possibility would be a Flair vs Gino feud. I'm aware that the shocking turn I'm going to mention is from the 70s, but Ray Stevens turning face against Heenan and Bockwinkel was pretty shocking. As far as Buddy goes, he has the distinction of being on the opposite end of Jesse Ventura's only program as a face. An often overlooked 80s heel turn, because of location would probably be Bob Armstrong turning in Southeastern. He was the special referee in a NWA title match with Harley Race defending against Ron Fuller just to have one of the all time beloved heroes turn on him during the conclusion of the match. And then only half the fans booed him because of his long run but then they went ahead and had him slap announcer Charlie Platt after repeated jousting. This situation almost turned bad for Armstrong outside of the arenas due to the fact that this happened right before Platt's wife gave birth to his son. Platt had said in an interview that Armstrong got so much heat that 3 marines approached him, willing to teach Bob a very painful lesson.
@wrestlingsgreatestmoments14 күн бұрын
I forgot about the Bob Armstrong heel turn. I remember reading that in an Apter magazine. That capped off the heel turn. The heel turn began when the Road Warriors turned on Sting in a six man tag team match (against the Varsity Club I believe) as Sting was substituting for Dusty who was off doing a charity event. The Road Warriors heel run only lasted for three months as they were quickly turned face again in January 1989 due to the fact that the fans kept cheering for them anyways. Similar to Sting's brief heel run in the fall of 1999 (lasted around two months) and Bill Goldberg's brief heel run during the summer of 2000 (which also lasted around two months).

The only thing keeping that moment from being Plan 9 from Outer Space level hilarity was Andre's angry stare and imposing presence. To be completely honest with you, if I'd been a pre-teen and not 27 years old when I saw that moment play out I'd probably have looked at it in a totally different way. But because I'd already been watching wrestling for nearly 20 years at that point, I viewed it for what it was: a wrestling angle. Granted, an important one, but an angle nonetheless. I remember as a kid I was reading an article in PW Insider about this Ole Anderson guy. I kept thinking they were calling Arn “Ole” as an insinuation that he was “old” or some good “ole” boy from the south. Later found out that OLE was supposedly Arn’s on screen nephew or whatever. Confused the F out of me as a kid!
@wrestlingsgreatestmoments9 күн бұрын
I can only imagine how you felt when they referred to Ole as Arn's uncle then as Arn's cousin. LOL.
@TasteTestTitan9 күн бұрын
@@wrestlingsgreatestmoments lol honestly I was never an Arn Anderson fan. It didn’t matter if was part of the Horsemen or was the tag partner with Tully Blanchard as the Brainbusters. His contributions to wrestling were lackluster. He was celebrated as a key figure in wrestling at one point in time but his in ring charisma and performance leaves much to be desired. He often used a repetitive style that was anything but special.

@@TasteTestTitan Thanks for sharing. I like when fellow wrestling fans are up front and explain why they like or dislike a wrestler. I don't agree with you but I appreciate you explaining why. That's a lot more than someone saying "Wrestler X sucks." LOL.
@TasteTestTitan8 күн бұрын
@@wrestlingsgreatestmoments Arn Anderson is often overrated as a wrestler. While he had a solid technical foundation, his matches often felt slow and lacked the excitement that fans crave. His promos were usually uninspiring, and he never quite developed a character that resonated with the audience in a meaningful way. Compared to contemporaries like Ric Flair or Bret Hart, Anderson’s legacy feels underwhelming, as he rarely took center stage in major storylines or left a lasting impact on the industry. I thought once he was part of the Heenan Family maybe he’d stand out more, him and Tully Blanchard. The one and only match of his of which I remember is when him and Blanchard fought Demolition on Saturday Nights Main Event I believe. Besides that I was never impressed or interested in his matches. He has no lasting impact on wrestling other than being part of the Four Horsemen.
