Haku should have been Jerry Lawler's replacement for the match against the Hart Family at that Survivor Series (1994 I think?). Don't get me wrong, HBK was great in that match, and their eventual feud was pretty epic. It just didn't make any sense for HBK to be leading a team of multicoloured knights. Here's how I would have booked it. Step 1) Find stock footage of a skier having a really bad fall down a mountain. Step 2) Have Jerry Lawler dress up like the skier and shoot a promo for Survivor Series at a ski resort, and have him ski away from the interviewer at the end of the promo. Step 3) Shoot footage of Jerry Lawler at the ski lodge being loaded into the back of an ambulance, selling his leg big time. Step 4) Edit those three shots together so that it looks like Jerry Lawler broke his leg skiing down a mountain. Step 5) Have Jerry Lawler come out on Monday Night Raw in a wheelchair, with his leg in a cast from ankle to hip, and announce that due to his leg injury, he won't be able to take part in the Survivor Series match against the Hart Family. Then he announces his replacement, King Haku, "Because it takes a king to know a king." Haku probably would have been able to do it as well, because according to my research he was wrestling in Japan at the time. Both New Japan and All Japan Pro Wrestling were known to lend their talent to the (then) WWF from time to time.

@Thundarr1003 ай бұрын
@@Meng4Now Certainly makes more sense than making HBK team captain and then shooting a bunch of vignettes to make it seem like he was the captain all along. As if us fans wouldn't remember that the whole reason behind the match was Jerry Lawler constantly making fun of Stu and Helen Hart.
@randomlyfactual1943Ай бұрын
Nah I woulda gone with Shawn
@Thundarr100Ай бұрын
@@randomlyfactual1943 Shawn is the more charismatic wrestler, for sure, but the whole point of having masked wrestlers called "Knight's" as his partners was that they were supposed to be following a "King". Shawn's a great wrestler, but he's not a king. He's never even been a participant in the King of the Ring tournament. In fact, I don't think that the King of the Ring tournament was a thing yet (that or the only winner so far has been Bret Hart). Maybe if they had done a bit where Jerry Lawler knighted Shawn Michaels, that might have worked? At least it would be a knight leading a team of knights into the match. But I think it would have worked better if a king lead his knights into the match. And without Jerry Lawler, that leaves Bret Hart, Haku, "Macho King" Randy Savage , "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan, and Harley Race (at least at that point in time of WWF's history with "Kings Of Wrestling"). The Hitman was the main babyface of the company at that time, and captain of the opposing team.The Macho Man had jumped ship to WCW. Harley Race was retired from the ring and acting as Vader's manager in WCW. Duggan was still very much a babyface, still years off from Shitstain trying to turn him heel and join Team Canada in WCW, and as King he was a "man of the people". Which pretty much just leaves Haku, who I believe was wrestling in Japan at the time, so coming back to America for just one match was still a possibility.

I don't want to hear any more garbage about Haku being a wonderful guy with a heart of gold. I've thought for a while, how can you be a super scary looking and huge guy with a heart of gold but keep finding yourself in brutal fights everywhere you go? I understand there's the occasional tough guy who targets scary looking guys to try to build a reputation, but it seems like he had more problems than one would expect from that aspect alone. And we get a clue from the one guy's story; Meng sees a guy across the bar and, for no apparent reason, he walks over to a guy and bites his nose off. He should have been locked up for a very long time for that stunt. It sounds like the man is a crazy psychopath. Even if the bar guy was an asshole and Meng spied him doing some act of assholery, bite his nose off? really?
@makeshift1120002 ай бұрын
Yeah, I agree. I dare say he was a nice guy if you knew him & didnt cross him but it didnt seem to take much to make him go wild. We never hear what this guy (who had nis nose bitten off) is supposed to have done to warrant it. Probably because if we did hear, it would be so relatively minor & make Haku look like an out of control savage. I think he partly gets excused because he's Samoan & subconsciously people hold them to a different/lower standard of behaviour. I mean, if an American were behaving like this, everybody would say "he was a nice guy but had a screw loose".
