great vid saved me alot of frustration especially with the tip to tuck the air ducts back into the airbox. tip for everyone else don't just yank the breather tube off that goes into the gearbox on the left side and if you do you should be able to get it back on without tearing off the oil pump cover I learned this the hard way.

I recommend disconnecting it at top of airbox and leaving it attached to avoid the hassle.

Great vid man! My carbs are just like yours I have a 82 cb650, on the bottom of the carbs you had small hoses. I just bought mine & am having some carb issues. I noticed mine doesn't have those 4 hoses. Where do they go? I'm not able to go above 45mph, thanks

The hoses are just drain hoses. They're not required. If you unscrew the drain screw then fuel will flow out the nipples on the bottom. If you have the little hoses on its easy to catch the fuel in a container. If you don't it'll just dump on top of the crankcase. Have you cleaned your carbs yet? You may have a secondary main jet clogged.

Hi, just an off topic question. I just got my first carbureted bike 79 cb750. Where does the fuel line go into from the tank? That gold nipple between 1 and 2 carb? Sorry for the noob question.

There are two throttle cables. The second one is there for safety reasons. It rolls the throttle off. It isn't really needed, but it's there in case your throttle return spring breaks to ensure the throttle doesn't stick on.

at 0:01 is that bronze spout in between carb 1 and 2 a vent? I can't figure out where to run my fuel line to and I can't remember if it attaches to the spout on the top or if it runs to the "t" hose connector and attaches to the two spouts under the carbs between 1/2 and 3/4. I have a 1978 cb750K

Bronze spout is for the fuel. Plastic t between 3 and 4 is an air vent.

Simon Austin on top of my carbs both spouts are bronze and both sit between 2 and 3 one next to 2 and one next to 3. Below the carbs I have one between 1 and 2 and another between 3 and four which were originally attached to a 2 to 1 connector. Which is the fuel spout?

Mikael Hartmark What year is your CB750? If it is prior to 1979 then you have an SOHC and they have completely different carbs. Or are you "norwaysfinest88" posting under a different name? If so, the 1978 model is definitely a SOHC with the "keyhole" carbs. I don't know much about those. You should ask someone who does. There are plenty of SOHC cb750 forums. You can check out forums.sohc4.net, or my favourite: honda-cb750-s.456789.n3.nabble.com/ That said, on the 1981 cb750 DOHC carbs the spout on the front of the carbs is for the auto petcock. It's a mess of tubes that sits on top of your carbs. Many people remove it because it is a common source of carb related problems including cold starting issues. If you remove it, you have to block off that spout on the front of the carbs for the bike to run well. I just used a rubber cap and gas line metal clamp. You can see it at 0:01 in the video. The brass spout on the top of the carbs gets the fuel line. On the 1981 carbs this is between carb 1 and 2.

It's easier to get the throttle cables off if you slide the carbs out from the other side.

Hi, I see yor carbs hasn t accelerator fuel pump, mine, on a japan version CB 750 Custom Exclusive from 1981 has not that pump on carb #2, too, mine are VB52, and had some problems with main jet ( 102, then installed 75) and very hard to start on cold climate after 2 or 3 days stopped. no air leaks, aircutoff diafragms and all orings replaced. it seems during stop 1 or 2 plugs, get oil deposit, any comments about Jets an cold satarting? txs in advance, Alex

Its been several years since i sold this bike, but are you running factory exhaust with the factory air intake box or are you trying to run pods or a non standard exhaust? First thing I'd advise trying is to go back as close to factory as you can, including for all jets.

my insulators are rock solid and the carbs wont budge. what should I do?

You should order some new ones. Mine were like that at first before I ordered new ones. You likely already have a vacuum leak. To get them off you're going to need more force, and you might need to cut them/weaken them so they'll break instead of your carbs when you pry them off. They will likely break apart in chunks. I had to spend about a half hour cleaning the baked on old ones off of the engine before I could put the new ones on.

I am 62 and have been fooling with these CBs for a long time, what I do when the boots are hard like that, you must know that they inject plasticize in them when they are new to make and keep them soft enough to work with, so silicon contains plasticize in it, take the boots and clean them with pine-sol, dry them and put them in a plastic zip lock bag, (good seal) spray them well with silicon several times and seal them in the bag, its the gases that refresh them enough with the ability to soften them up, the longer you do this process the better they get,
