Beautiful bikes! My aunt rode a Maico when I was a kid. That bike made an impression on me. She sold it around 1987 and bought a Can Am. Love the older bikes. So much character. Thank you for keeping them running so future generations may appreciate them!

Just love Maico dirt bikes they were the most bad ass bikes ever made. Nobody could touch them. I knew a guy that had a #81 490 that bike was crazy fast. Nobody could keep up with him.

The two 85 models sound like they can wipe the floor with any of the off road bikes out there today. The horsepower specs on those bikes are pretty amazing too. 68HP? that's not even the HP the big bore heavily breathed on 4 strokes are putting out today by KTM. Maico had the world by the balls but they fucked it up with the rear hub and gearing problems. The engine however was insane.

Family dispute ruined the Brand one Brother wanted more of the share of the spoils than the other , and was willing to ruin his Brother to gain total control.in the proccess he succeded in distroying the brand and gained nothing . Thats the basic form of the story but there is a youtube video on the whole chain of events from making the best MX bike in the World and then their rapide fall in disaster .

always gets me how people still kick with right leg,it took me 2 weeks to learn to kick with left leg ,allthough it was an 88 ktm lc4 600 mx with dellorto carb -so i had a shit load of practice

Part of kicking starting off the bike with right leg is to turn the bars away so any kick back does not drive your knee into the bars... I do kick with my left when on the track or start line 😊

How does one get a 2 stroke so responsive on the throttle like that? I have a cr125 that bogs in 1st/2nd gear then takes off in 3rd. does this no matter how long i ride it. Gas/oil ratio is at 40:1 i am thinking either spark plug/airfilter/jets

I know another way!! Sell them & Get a Bike that's almost 5 years-old instead of almost 30 years-old...LOL, I'm only kidding, I still have my Yamaha YZ125 from 1998...That was the YEAR TO OWN THAT BIKE...They were UNBEATABLE, except Ricky Carmichael (that's the RIDER, not the BIKE) & I remember him VERY clearly In 1997-2001. My dad (also a former Motocross Racer), said "He's ALWAYS riding WAY OVER HIS HEAD, he's getting LUCKY, sooner or later, if he keeps riding like that he's get hurt REAL bad"
