10:50-10:54 the announcer says "Shear is a master of this track". Wasn't that the truth!! The man was an outstanding driver and a master of just about any track he went to on any given day. I always thought he was never given the same respect as guys like Trickle, Senneker, Miller or Eddy, mayber because of his quiet demeanor or the fact that he never ran ASA fulltime. However, he was just as good as these guys, maybe even better.

@@jerryferguson4114 He still is here in northern IL. My first go kart number was 36 after Joe passed. He was a quiet guy, but he used to come to my grandpas house for Bears games on Sundays "to learn about football". I always found it funny that the only sport he knew was racing. He was there for my uncles first sprint car test at Rockford. He passed when I was 5, but I remember him being an incredibly kind and gentle man. I've also had the pleasure of getting to know Dave Watson, who is a great guy.
