That motor Hanley used to come to Airborne Speedway was something else to hear. Reminds me of one of Robert Yates motors in Davey Allisons car. Is this where the ACT cars ended up after Tom Curley quit the Super Late Models and went to the slow poke late models?

I remember watching an interview with Junior Hanley from back in the 90’s & he was asked why he doesn’t run in the Cascar super series & he said he had no ambition to race glorified street stocks with no horse power lol

I’m sure Robbie Thompson was upset, but he is the one that was wrong in this incident. The 18 car did spin out but he did not move down, Thompson just drove into him.

Junior was a good driver, but seldom raced against great drivers. When he went to Speed Weeks in Florida to race against Americas best, he seldom won. They would race every night for over a week. Those were great races, with great racers. Dick Trickle, Tom Reffner, Larry Detjens, Bob Senneker, Butch Miller and the best from the south too.

007scallywag; Thats not necessarily true, Jr. would go down south & win quite a few & if not win he'd be right with the top cars

007scallywag, it is obvious you don't know much about racing, Jr Hanley or NSS World Series weeks. Love to hear your response. Hanley was one of the BEST ever down there. Got the stats to prove it.

speed51.com rank Jr. Hanley 2nd of all the drivers to ever compete in New Smyrna's Speedweeks. speed51.com/top-51-drivers-to-compete-in-new-smyrna-world-series/ "Hanley won three titles in the 80’s and 90’s. In 1990 and 1991, Hanley won 14 of the 17 races, a feat that may never be duplicated."

“seldom raced against great drivers”???? You’re either trolling or don’t know what you’re talking about! Wow.

I remember being at Cayuga sometime in the late 80's for an ASA 300 lap race. There was a caution with about 12 laps to go, and Hanley came out 4th or 5th behind Senneker, Eddy, Butch Miller, and maybe one more. He passed them all, including Senneker for the lead on the second last lap. The place was going nuts. He won races like that, against fields like that all over North America: Nashville, Pocono, Toledo, and Milwaukee. Stay in the shallow end.
