Sorry, I'm late to the party, but I was 14 years old and at this game and that Bobby Smith Goal is forever burned in my memory. Since that night over 40 years ago, this may be the first time I've seen it- Thank you so much!

I remember listening to this game on the radio in Minneapolis. The old legend Northstar 1500 KSTP announcer Al Shaver called that Bobby Smith goal. He said Smith took the Goaltender out for breakfast lunch and dinner.

That was an amazing post season run by the North Stars, and, though they were beaten soundly by the Islanders in the cup finals, it has to rank as my favorite North Stars team ever.

Our vo-tech broadcasting class took a field trip to the twin cities and all 16 of us went to this game, MN coach Glen Sonmor was upset with some cheap shots by the flames and during a scuffle with the Calgary bench he was hollering and screaming and kept pointing at the scoreboard, classic!!!

What a crowd. Damn the Met Center when filled was an absolute thundering madhouse. Only sat 15,000 (if that) but the crowd is all jumping up in unison and roaring

That was the North Stars when I was 4 years old. A few years later, when I was between 10 and 14, going to North Stars games, I do not remember that style of game. It seemed to be more dump and chase, and it seemed like the North Stars struggled.
