I was gonna say! Sounds far too good to be a 301 I just couldn't believe it! You fooled me with the working boost lights!! Not seen a bird with a working set with a none stock engine before! Very nice.

many yrs ago I had a non-turbo 301 T/A with a 4 speed and 3.42 rear gear, it was dead stock except for the dual resonator 400 style exhaust, it was SLOW as fuck but could still easily beat my brothers 80 Z-28 that was a 350 w/automatic. that car was a ton of fun, beat it like a red headed step child and it never missed a beat

When I was much younger a fellow kid started bragging about his (Daddy bought) Tans AM and made sure I was in the conversation. I told him I would let him stay ahead until his full boost light came on at which point I would pass and walk away. My '57 Chevy did not let me down (thank God) and it went as described.

I got rid of my 301 none turbo about 5 years ago for a late low compression 400 with a few simple performance mods like headers, true duals, decat and all the emissions stuff scrapped. Its putting out about 210hp but i still want more so im now looking at buying a heavily modified ram air 4 engine which has been stroked to 461. Theres not many Pontiac engine builders here in the UK! not so easy to get hold of a decent crate engine. I think the ram air 4 stroker will perform well.

@@user-vg7vl8iv9o I didn’t get the stroker motor. I sold the car and bought a 2001 WS6 with H/C/I and some other sweet engine and tranny mods. Still have that one. Laying down 430 Rwhp.

I'm sure there is but it's gonna risk damage to the motor as always and they really weren't built for boost it was all just for public relations and to keep the trans am in the limelight for another yr or two

it's sad that the lights are the only thing that works. could have been a good motor if given time to develop.
