They used to frequent my local pub in Sheffield (The Highcliffe ). Never any silly pretentiousness or privilege, they were just regulars who got on with their business & we got on with ours. Happy days!

It's great finding these old clips because they remind you just how good looking Phil was back then. He was able to wear full makeup and not look in any way camp or effeminate. He really was a very good looking man, with amazing hair that some women would have been envious off. I'd never seen this clip before and it makes you wonder why the whole Boy George thing was such a big deal.

I shook hands with Phil in Dublin TV centre in 1996. I had a quick chat with him and the girls and he signed a demo bootleg album that I still have. Seems like a very nice down to earth decent chap.

Cabaret Voltaire we're also pretty early , they used treated guitar noise as synths anyway , it' s the attitude not the instrument that defines conventional
