Loaned my car out for a Parade & the driver was pressing my horn 1000s of times as he drove 2 miles an hour in the Parade, tooting the horn every second, finally something gave out & all of a sudden he said horn just went silent lol, this video helped me 100% for my 1980, by pressing my horn like crazy he broke all the old plastic tabs lol, those (3) plastic tabs were all broken off, the horn cover was very loose to the touch, flapping around loosely, no contact, no horn, also used zip ties, tighten up the cover & walh la, horn works

Just a heads up, the spring goes in first, the eyelet (thing that looks like a short nail)goes in second with the head first against the top of the spring (big end towards the dash) then the insulator (little black thing). Also the spacer (thing the 3 long screws go threw goes under the telescoping lock with the 3 stand offs pointing at you.

Merry Christmas 2u, it Help me tremendously ! I just purchased a 1990 & it has no horn/ high-low beam it’s in the shop now. But I’ve been searching for a video that I could hear ! What mine might sound like eventually. Lol

Add this to my comment, the black insulator has a little tab on the side of it that once you push it down you must turn it clockwise to lock it in. Best done by removing the steering wheel and cover behind it. If you got it right you can push the eyelet (nail looking thing) in and it will spring back out with insulator (black thing) staying in place.

The horn on my 82 is sticky, if I hit it, it’ll get stuck. Think I’ll have to get a rebuild kit

That’s the easiest way to go. Or again the little plastic inns are broken.
