1982 Chevy K30 Crew Cab 3+3 walk around

Here is a quick walk around of my 1982 Chevy K30 Crew Cab or Chevy 3+3.
Dana 60 front axle, 14 bolt rear w/open 4:56’s. SM465 mated to a NP205. 292 straight six.

Those generation Chevy & GMC crew cab pickups are super rare nowadays, but the regular cab pickups on the other hand I still see on the roads today, just not as many as I use to back in the day.

Absolutely. There’s only 2 other K30’s SRW’s in my city of around 250,000. There are more crew cab squares, but they’re either 2WD or dually. Topically they pull an absolute mint in my neck of the woods. Took me several years to find this deal.

@@Chadlistentome & back in those days during the production of those generation pickups, that was the only way a Chevy or GMC buyer could get a bigger cab on a fullsize pickup. Those crew cabs were only offered on 3/4 ton & 1 ton pickups & all had the 8ft long fleetside boxes unlike the crew cabs today which are offered on 1/2 ton pickups too with the short boxes.

@@Chadlistentome I use to see those generation crew cab pickups all the time back in the '80s & '90s, & same with the regular cab pickups, Suburbans, Blazers, Jimmys, & the medium duties which are those semi looking trucks with the same cab style as your crew cab.

@@kevinrichards3288 yeah. We had a Suburban when I was a kid. Back then the squares were everywhere, but K30 SRW crews were super scarce, in my area. As an adult, the only squares I haven’t had, is a C10, 2WD Blazer, and a suburban. Maybe those will find a way to my garage some day. I’ve thought about selling it because I know what they’re selling for now, as of late, I don’t have any free time. But then I remember I’ll never find another one in my area, and if I do it’s going to be to damn expensive for me to buy. Lol

@@Chadlistentome yes those GM square body truck models & cabover semis were everywhere back when I was little. Cabover semis were cool because they looked easier to maneuver & park in than conventional cab semis which are the most common nowadays here in the USA. My favorite cabovers are those International 9670s & Mack MH models. In the movie Terminator 2 in the part when T-1000 totaled that black Freightliner cabover semi tow truck when he was chasing after John Connor in it, that part & at the end when Arnold Schwarzenegger terminated himself were the only 2 parts I didn't like but other than those it's an awesome movie.

I have a question, is the gas consumption really that bad with a 292 inline engine? The truth is I'm going to buy a truck similar to the one that appears in this video but it's not 4x4, it's a C30

I was getting around 8-10MPG. It was every bit as bad as my 454 in my other crewe cab.

I just got a 89 suburban with minimal rust considering I live in the rust belt it’s really good and fixable, it’s got a 14 rear and the 10 bolt front with a 700r4 350 tbi , I was considering getting the k30 crew cab but I love the suburbans plus there basically the same but enclosed, these old square body’s are awesome though

I always liked (THE BIG GUN) we used to put them in boats!!! pull out a little nova 4 banger and refit the boat for the big 6.. the motor cradle and stringer refit was a bit of a pain but after changing outdrive gears and going to electric fuel pump and a few little things Wow she was good to go!! and go she/they did!!!...I had a 18ft glastron made up like the BATBOAT with big fin/wing and all!!!! kids Gps her at 48/49 mph. with just driver!!!! pulling 6 skiers out of the water no problem.. Keeping them ALL UP was a task though!!!!. Maybe I can find a photo of her in action!!!!!!!!!! Take care,Stacy&bob
