These cars look nice, but sitting like this, they are rotting from the inside out. All the never rebuilt, unrestored cars that just sit will need to be restored before being driven. 😢 Jay Leno knows this which is why he drives his cars.

They’ve helped a lot of other manufacturers with their own engines and they make a few really cool V12’s that rev past 12,000 rpm for Gordon Murray and Aston Martin. It literally broke my heart when asked "do you drive these cars?" and he responded "No". 😢 Literally the worst thing for a car is just sitting.... I can understand something ultra rare which can't be easily or ever replaced, but at least those ones should be started weekly to monthly and run through the gears in the space.... the other ones should be exercised at least monthly on the road in good weather. You need a car-caretaker to live in the cooler and exercise, start, keep clean and or, potentially show these beauties off.... me and the 2 cats are free 😅 Get these things out, let people see them, let kids see what real automobiles used to be and how damn near every year a model would be updated, not like today when it takes 5-10yrs for a car to just get a slight visual update at most.

Yeah, the cars look neat but if they have not been driven, most of them need every rubber part and seal replaced: oil seals, water pump seals, intake manifold seals, driveline seals, every rubber bushing in the suspension and mounts replaced, and every part that touches gasoline cleaned out. We are talking dozens and dozens of hours on each car. I'm both sorry and glad they're not my responsibility!

I agree about them needing to be driven, and it’s definitely cool that a person well versed on a particular car can tell the visual differences between say a 66-67-68. But in practice I like when a car remains unchanged or updated for 15 or 20 years. Parts are usually cheap and easy to find, all the problems have been ironed out by that time, etc. I remember a friend had some kind of ‘58 Chrysler and he needed trim pieces from the junkyard. It HAD to be from a ‘58, even though ‘57 and ‘59 was a similar design the part was different. I don’t miss that

Growing up in Cedar City, Utah from 1970 onwards my backyard shared a brick wall that is six feet tall (back then it seemed taller) with Doug Thorley’s mom and dad’s house. The home was always well cared for and walking past the front countless times as I grew up, the place seemed modern and expensive. They never got involved with us kids and we didn’t bother them. This is first I’ve ever heard reference to Doug’s headers. Totally cool and I’d give multiple parts of my anatomy for that car!!! Absolutely incredible!! Thanks so much for giving me a trip back in time. Don’t know whatever happed to the family home after all these years, might still have family in it. Have an awesome day and thanks again! On the 442, if I’m not mistaken a 455 is just a 400 with a larger bore, and regarding the Torino it’s still kinda crazy how many engine options they had back then, and how cheap they were. I was watching another car video showing the sticker on a 1970 Ford and the upgrade from a 351 to a 429 was only either $60 or $80. If I recall it was cheaper than the radio upgrade

This was probably the best episode ever... Paul is incredible. The things he has accomplished in racing, are things I can only dream of, and his car collection is absolutely incredible, but most important, he seems very humble and down to earth. I like that he has some of everything, not everything has to be 100% original, and he has stories for a lot of the cars. The Torino has so many cords going underneath of it, it looks like it's on life support LOL... When I saw the shiney spot on the hood, I knew immediately what happened. My best friends dad bought a brand new 1970 Cobra Jet Torino. It was white with blue interior. It had the rear window slats too, but his had the Magnum 500 wheels. Anyway, my friends sisters were going to surprise their dad and wax the black on the hood because it wasn't shiney. Needless to say, his dad was very surprised when he saw the car. It was an awesome car. It was always garaged and he hardly ever drove it, he drove his 73 F-250 pickup most of the time. Unfortunately he got MS really bad and one night the house caught on fire, and there was no way he could get it out. It was all he could do to get out of the house himself...

Back in 1974, I had a 1967 Cutlass S. 330, 4 bbl, metallic Silver paint, black interior. It was the exact same body, and interior as that racing 442. Still the favorite car of all I've owned.

also, no fender louvers all 69 & 70's had them, being all original? something going on there in the front end, not bashing just observing
@NovaResource
@NovaResource 2 ай бұрын
@@BigblkKidWhile fender louvers were only in 1969 and 1970, they were not on all 1969-70 Novas. Only standard on upper trims or in exterior decor optioned cars. Many low trim 1969-70 Novas don’t have fender louvers.

Some great cars, as an English man who worked for Jaguar for many years its made my day that Paul is the very 1st American to say Jaguar correctly its pronounced JAG U R not how everyone in North America says JAGWHARR.

When I visit my dad in Indiana we go visit a friend if his an extremely wealthy person did very well as a dentist. He's got two huge buildings on his property filled with cars it's crazy. It's to the point now he's been having drive on lifts installed so he can stack them. He reminds me of Jay Leno because he's got two full time mechanics that do only one thing work on his cars. The last time I was there last year we had to squeeze between the cars it's so packed now. Nicest guy you'll ever meet drives a beat up suburban you'll never guess he's a millionaire.

Awesome car collection. Please correct me if I'm wrong but at 6:27, isn't that a roll bar and not a roll cage? I thought a roll cage had bars which went to the front of the roof as well as the back. In essence, the whole roof of the car is protecting the occupants of the vehicle.
@theguythatcouldfly
@theguythatcouldfly 2 ай бұрын
Agreed - awesome collection! I would think that anytime there's more than 1 bar, it goes from a "bar" to a "cage." It's just that not all roll cages are created equal. More is required with more speed. That car isn't going to get to 200 MPH so it doesn't need the full cage they put into drag and drive cars.

Thanks for sharing with us Mr. Gentilozzi! I'm constantly telling myself it's a good thing I don't have a larger garage, and that I should put up a larger garage. It's funny to know that there really isn't a limit to that instinct.

The red Nova at 11:45 is a 1970, not a 69. 70-72 style marker lights and 70 steering wheel horn shroud with the Pebble grain, not the Madrid as 69 would have.
