It was fun to show my 11 y.o. hot wheel collecting son this video since I was an avid 11 y.o. hot wheel collecting boy in 1982. i remember well, hunting for these very cars and seeing some of the rare ones only once or twice. Fortunately, I still have them so we can enjoy these oldies together. Thanks for these videos. They take me back...

All that I can say is, is wow. I had so many of these, but were stolen out of my garage when I was a kid. Yes, this was such an Awesome reminder of those gems. And just imagine all of these beauties and the metal base!!!! Simply Awesome. Thanks for sharing, No Doubt

Have to say the '82 Hot Wheels lineup knocked it out of the park! I agree 100% that the realistic castings from the early 80s have to be some of the coolest cars they've done, never ever seen the Dodge Aries K Wagon before...I kept thinking in the other videos 'Hey where this casting or that casting?' and boom 1982 was a killer year! Amazing video Odawg, your videos kick ass and are instant classics! Congrats on the 100 million views!

takes me back. Had just bout all of these but the fantasy type. Never dug those. Now I'm suddenly remembering all the different types like the ones that jacked up, changed color, crack ups, rubber tired ones, semi with steering wheel on the trailer. Thought there was more but then the sets, service station, city and the train set. Used to try to set em all up on something to send cars down all three. Oh yeah, don't think hot wheels made them but key cars! loved those too. nylint semis, golden eagle, silver knight, huge hook n ladder. buddy L, stompers. seeing these hot wheels flooded my memory with all the ol toys that were awesome late 70's/ early to mid 80's. Good times!

At this time 40 years ago, the die's were being produced for most of these vehicles! The 1982 line up represents the height of play value among 1:64th HW collectors and die-cast in general in the opinion of many. Matchbox was right there along side them in "82 producing some great toys of their own that are now considered vintage collectors items as well. HW by Mattel is a legend...Goodtimes!

Geez, I clicked this vid from one of those crusher/shredder channels, thinking a old gift pack was going to be destroyed. Well, nice showcase and collection, too bad some of those models don't do a comeback, even on special series or packs, without knowing if they were retired, there are many interesting ones.

18:58 Something to drive you variation crazy a little bit more.... that white Camaro Z28 has a variation on the base where it says "CAMRO" instead of "CAMARO". I have one. The one you have is the fixed version where they hastily modified the mold and got that corrected. Also the red Bronco 4x4 is from one of the early Hot Wheels 5-packs from the early 1980's, the long flat ones. I forgot the name of it, but you can find it on the Hot Wheels wiki I am sure under "5-packs".

Hey man... Just strolling thru and wanted to make a request. I thoroughly enjoyed your stop motion stuff. Been a while since you made one. I can imagine they take a while to make but Jesus they are entertaining as F! You sir are talented. You deserve an award. I'm sure you can make your own series on YT and get quite the revenue from that. They just don't do things like that anymore. Anyway, from a "fan" to you sir... Good day!

Hey I have one good question , I keep most of my cars inside of plastic containers , but they're like every car is on top of each other , do you think that they can get scratched like that if they're touching each other or no ? Expect to hear from you soon :)
@wtffor7 жыл бұрын
I think they will be fairly safe unless you move a long distance with the container if there is excess vibration.

In my town we have two particular fleamarkets that have a bunch of hotwheels still in the package and the cards still mint from the 80s and 90s. Not many real rare ones but many muscle and a few funny cars. I go there often and get some good cars. I have a hong kong captain america trans am with the hot ones wheels. Pretty nice piece.

Is there a reason that a few of the cars are facing the opposite way?

Yes there is actually, I photograph my collection as I acquire vehicles - the few that are facing the wrong way are waiting to be photographed. After that they get turned around 'the right way'. Great question, and keen eye you have!

Thanks for subscribing and your comment! I value my collection in it's entirety at around $150,000 now... it's crazy, I know! There was no Delorean made by Hot Wheels until the late 2000's... but I'm sure other manufactures made them in the 1980's... not sure which one though.

As always enjoying your videos can you clear something up, as you refer to some of the castings as gold hot ones. Are you referring to the series released in 1981 THE HOT ONES (1981) was a series of cars with a new wheel and axle design that allowed the car to go faster than those of the previous few years. The 70' saw much cost cutting measures to keep the Mattel from going bankrupt, which included the thick straight axle design. These cars were much slower than the older models with delrin bearings. The new design was marketed as "FASTEST NON-POWERED METAL CARS"

Yes exactly!

Is there a reason for the scarcity of the Megaforce Bronco? it's kind of a shame as it is the only one they did with a clean stock deco. Oh well it doesn't seem like it wouldn't be impossible to replicate (or make one better).

What can I say I just throw my hands up in the air and tell him that some people aren't as educated about cars as other automobile enthusiasts are or it might be some kind of Canadian thing.😊 He just laughs at me and says oh" grandpa the important thing is we know better.😅😊
