My husband was bed bound for the last six months of his life, and he passed a good amount of time watching these videos. It helped to him to step away from his illness and be able to laugh and still be the car guy that he wasn't able to be any longer. We spent a good amount of time watching these together-coming back and watching new episodes brings my husband back to me for at least a little while. Thank you for doing what you do, it matters more than you know.

Didn't know it's your birthday so I didn't get you anything. Well I have something to give you though. I watched a video of Little Grip Garage a short while ago. Bentley was working to get a Toro lawnmower running so he could help Dad mow around the property and he was faced with a few problems. That's when Dad stepped up and assisted Bentley with advice. Dad didn't do the work he just offered advice where needed. Well a short time later that Toro started right up. Bentley was excited and couldn't wait to start mowing. Your present is the knowledge that you are one of the best Dad's I've ever seen. You didn't do the work and you didn't say, do this, do that. And you let him take credit for the success of getting that mower running. That's a great Dad/Father and I can't say that I ever did any better. One of the favorite cars I've ever owned is a 1972 Coronet that I picked up for $1500 in the mid 90's. It also had the 383, and my 17 year old self thought it was great that it could smoke the tires from a stop light all the way through the intersection. It ended up having an electrical problem I could never figure out, and being 1995, we didn't have Google to go to and find out what was wrong, or what other people had done. I replaced almost all the ignition system before I gave up and let it get taken back from the stealership I bought it from. They didn't want to give me my money back, but with the help of a great tow truck driver, we filed a civil suit against them for financing a car to a 17 year old without a parent's signature. They refunded me right quick.

Yep, a long video of Derek Bieri doing a far-from-home, classic-car, revival-rescue and driving it 1600+ miles home to Tennessee to his lovely bride Jessica and his three sons...and the rescue is a classic Mopar. It's a GOOD weekend. Vice Grip Garage is the fa shizzle of KZbin automotive channels!

A new 66 Polara was the first American Car my dad bought after we immigrated to the the US from West Germany. It was his dream car; roomy, luxurious and smooth/quiet - compared to the VW he imported from W.G. a few years earlier.

As a guy who daily drove a 1965 Red on Red Valiant Formula S Commando Barracuda, for eleven years, and learned to drive in a 1966 C10, with three-on-the-tree, this really brought me back to better times. One sweet sled ya got there, Derick. Thank you for sharing, mate.

You inspire me a lot. I have a 1900 mile road trip next month in my old 91 Jeep Cherokee. It’s in decent shape. If your rig that sat for 32 years can make a 1600 mile trip I am positive my Jeep will make my trip. God bless you and your family.

I bought one from under a tree that had sat for 20 years. It was a 62 with a 318 poly. It took about an hour to get it running, and I drove it home. Great car!Best 200 bucks I ever spent.

Derek, only you to keep us watching car stuff for 2 hours and a half. It make us desire to stay there with you and be part of this journey that you bring to our homes trough KZbin every week. It help me a lot to go around depression and keep moving my feet, working on my cars too. Thanks for bringing information, fun, good cars and good mood, no matter the situation is!

Have been around convertibles since 1949, which is when my dad bought his first new one. I had the same top problem once. Slid the tarp through the front of the trunk lid, wrapped it around a broom handle, pulled it tight and put a vice grip on each end. My trunk lid did have a weather strip so that helped. Only had to drive a smidge over 300 miles but it made it. That Dodge Polara looks really nice!!! Do'er up good!

I grew up in Wyoming. LOVED seeing the video of the drive. None of those doggone wooden and green things messing up the vistas. The most wood you see is snow fences.

This is what I subscribed for, peak VGG content. There rescues are always the best viewing, and not rushing the filming and capturing the whole process is so much better than the rushed roadworthy rescues format I found on Discovery recently. Happy birthday Derek 🍻 👍🏻

I have a 1968 Coronet 500 convertible, took out the old 318 and replaced it with a 73 440 and 727 from a 1973 Imperial. Sitting in the garage waiting for life to slow down for about 20 years, but back in the day a large vinyl shower curtain stapled to the tack strips makes for a quick rain stopper in a pinch.

Derek. Looks like a guy has become a flying mechanic. I know truckers that don't put own as many miles as you do. These videos are still as enjoyable as ever but don't burn yourself out. Make sure you plan some family time in with all the whatnot and goings on. 😎

Hi Derek, old retired radiator guy here, save that OE radiator, you find a good shop you can have a new core put in it with a higher tube and fin content, looks OE and cools better than new. Love your content, guy's like you is what makes this country great!

What a stroke of good luck that the radiator failed. Just think of the adventure you would have missed and the story you will remember forever now. And the rain, how lucky can a guy get? One remembers the really good times and the really difficult times.

My uncle drove a 66 sport Fury, 383 4 barrel, 4 speed for years. Him and my cousin bought it as a basket case and restored it to it's former glory. It was originally black with a red interior. Love the 60s cars, they had style.
