Thanks for the info on the Large Date. General I make my judgement on the 2 in the date. Also, the large is closer to the rim, while the small date is further left from the rim.

I'm ordering a different scale. Mine is for food/kitchen. I've been saving every '82 Lincoln cent for years. As you were explaining the different weights, I found 2 exact sets of small & large date. I'm still not through looking for more. Thanks, that video explains it so much better.

They do make a copper large date 3.1 but what u want to find is a 1982 D small date 3.1 grams that coin supposed to be zinc but copper planchets made it through for that coin thats the only 82 i know worth money big money

I also heard that they started making the zinc large date in 1982 that weighed 2.5 , but mine is 2.4 grams

2.5 can actually be slightly under or slightly over so 2.4 is the 2.5 coin

They made both large and small 2.5 the bubbles are from the copper trying to stick to the zinc.

The lower weight is due to normal thickness variations in the planchet stock. The true rare 1982 cent is the denver small date weighing 3.11 grams.

I've found a mix of both too. Except the one that's worth good money. I was pretty excited when I found the 1982 large date thinking it was a small date. Then I also found a 1982 small date and it was zinc. Go figure!!

That penny large Date that is supposed to weigh 3.1 only if it's a Denver Mint . The 1982 no mint ( mark -Philadelphia) weighs 2.4) the only 3.1 Large Date that is the Denver min. Don't your money

There were 2 different pennies with the large date weighing 3.11 grams. One is made of Copper the other is made of Bronze (Cu + tin) it also weighs 3.11 grams.

They made both. Zinc cents weigh 2.5 grams and the copper weigh 3.1 grams. There are 7 varieties and the you have the proofs.
