@@shanetrimble9265Actually, the Helmet Project website/archive says that certain players (including Theisman, I believe) did wear the tucked feather design for a year or two after '82. What's even crazy is that in the 70's, there was a period where some of the Dolphins wore a helmet with the "dolphin in the sun" logo while some wore the design that had the dolphin outside of the sun... Within the same game, at times.

Does anybody know the story behind the Redskins' "tucked feathers" decals they used in 1982, the only year they used them? Even the logo at midfield in this game had the normal, un-tucked feathers. Why, for just this season, did they tweak the decals like that?

Sorry, but I just was never much of a fan of Jack Buck's announcing. By all accounts, he was a wonderful person, but his announcing style just left me flat. I forget if it was the '87 or '90 World Series, but his insistence on keeping track of how many consecutive outs had been recorded, starting with the 3rd one, added absolutely nothing to the broadcast, and drove me absolutely out of my mind. WHO CARES that that is the 5th straight out?!!! Base hit. Four outs later, "and that's 4 straight retired by the...." > shoots self < Maybe he was better or sharper or more dynamic in his earlier years, and I just missed that.
@shanetrimble926527 күн бұрын
He isn't my favorite but I thought he was very good. Especially compared to modern announcers.

That Championship game is already up on the NFL's KZbin channel, so if I tried to post it as well, it would be blocked for viewing because of copyright. 1:51.... probably will never see those types of fan outfits anymore!! Man, I love watching these old games!! '82 was definitely strange because of the strike. Some playoff games were regionally broadcast instead of nationally, and the Conference championship games were played on seperate days.
@mrmgr69027 күн бұрын
Also I think that this game was actually considered a "Second Round" Game of Super Bowl Tournament instead of a Divisional Playoff Game, because the teams were seeded 1-8 in a tournament setup due to the strike. As a result, this forced CBS & NBC to have regional coverage in the First Round.
