Something to add to your research. Not sure this will help but I put a Magnaflow brand flow through muffler on the end pipe on my 1987 924S . USA made with a good reputation. Measured the length and the diameters of the in and out pipes on the old one. Had a local shop weld it up. Gave a good boost to HP and it sounds nice. May not be the same on your earlier 924 T but if it works could be a good choice.

Huge fan of Magnaflow! That's on my punch list of improvements.

Three cylinders? Still more fun than a Ford Focus! Ordered plugs for the Macan yesterday.

You got that right Marco! Check those Macan coil packs for cracks while you have them out.

If I remember correctly you should not be above 0,7 bar (10 PSI) in load pressure. Otherwise you risk knock and destroyed pistons. So make sure it's set up correctly so it does not go boom.

Thanks Bob. That's the specification I remember. A shim in the wastegate would effect that pressure but I didn't see one when I disassembled and cleaned. Perhaps a weak spring?

@@hansgarage1751 be careful, 15psi without intercooler is hole in piston territory, that would be bad on the newly sorted engine. The us cars have less boost 0.43-0.5 bar somewhere, but i think they should be fine at euro boost 0.7bar. seems like either a leak in the control line to the wg or internally in the wg diaphragm.

@garagecedric thanks. You know this car was modified by Andial. Remnants of water injection, boost and oil temp guages when I got it. Andial stickers. Could they have increased boost?

@@hansgarage1751 interesting, it could probably do 15psi with working water injection, ive remember one that did that on the 924board, could be how it was thought out from the beginning. I bought a bunch of waste gate diaphragms from Andial many years ago when i was over in the US, stuff was so cheap then!

@@garagecedric I did bench test the diaphragm before reinstall. I held vacuum nicely. I'll double check the hose for leaks. Thanks for your help!
