2 Running Backs in this game who would go on to be Super Bowl MVPs in their 30's, Riggins in the same season as this game, Anderson 8 years later with the Giants.

I don't understand all of these comments about these two teams being "dumb" and "sucky". There's nothing either dumb or sucky about this gutsy performance from both teams.

Reviewing as many of the 82 Redskins games as I can find they played a lot of weather games that season Riggins got a bum call on that fumble or else they likely run out the clock much less dramatically still I love watching the game before instant replay!

One thing I notice about these old broadcasts...they rarely show the scoreboard or clock. It seems like today's game pretty much leaves it up the entire game.

Also when the broadcasts first started showing the yellow line for the first downs I hated it. Now I miss it when watching this.

Why oh why did the Cardinals have to move to Arizona? Say the Big Red wasn't a glamour team? Ridiculous! I used to absolutely love it when they'd play "The Cardinals are Charging" during kickoffs at Busch Stadium. They sampled Mozart, for crying out loud! Only thing like it was in the 1990s when the Pittsburgh Steelers would play Beethoven's 5th Symphony after recording a sack at Three Rivers Stadium.

According to St. Louis historian Greg Marecek who made his history of the St. Louis Football Cardinals book I purchased, it all same down to the separate city and county St. Louis governments fighting each other on the location of a new football stadium. Crime in the city comes in to play keeping them separate. Fan support was fine and Bill Bidwill wanted a stadium just for football which was a reasonable request. He thought Arizona was going to help build him a new stadium right away but it took 18 years so they played at Arizona State University. Public funding gets tricky and St. Louis would later pay the price for it when Stan Kroenke moved the Rams to L.A. for the larger TV market. The ironic thing is St. Louis was ready to replace the Dome with a new outdoor stadium but Kroenke knew the riches were in L.A. with the much larger TV market. Now St. Louis is left with the XFL Battle Hawks but they are popular and average close to 40,000 a game. I followed all the Cardinals years staring in 1960 when they moved here from Chicago.

The Redskins were crap in this game but there is a reason why Mark Mosley won NFL MVP that year by bailing out the team that game.
@mikemoguin17453 жыл бұрын
Yes. I remember this game and how valuable Mosley was for the Redskins. Just my opinion, but they may have had a hangover from losing at home to Dallas the week before (their only loss that year). They also struggled at home with the Giants the next week. Mosley had to kick 3 FGs to help them to a one-point win. Anyway, the Redskins definitely made it a memorable season, despite the strike, and a fun Super Bowl to watch. Still my favorite of all-time.

@@mikemoguin1745 mine too. I was 9, life was very hard for me during that time. The Redskins were my favorite team and they kind of came out of nowhere to win the super bowl

Thanks! Great game! Do you happen to have the Cards vs Bears, Ealges or 49ers game from '82?

I'd lovehate that Bears-Cards game. This 11-year-old Bears fan got his heart broken. :-D

The second game the Red skins spanked the Cardinals 28-0. Very bad butt beating. Embarrassing.
