The good old days. When the American League was the American League and the National League was the National League. And we sorted out who was better in the World Series.

The Braves win the divison if Horner doesn't break his wrist. I am a Reds fan but, watched a lot of Braves games in the 80's. I miss the 80's western divison. Good memories.

@ukcatfan383 How the race ends up hard to know. He was having his best year and would have been less pressure on Murphy to drive all the runs in. Might have helped the bullpen out having a bigger lead coming into the game. Baseball of the 80's was so much fun.

@@joeboo629 chris Chambliss missed 2 weeks also. Will never know what happens if they are not missing from the lineup.

80s was the absolute best for baseball. So competitive and lots of excellence in all aspects of the game.

If I remember correctly the Giants finished 1982 really strong and just barely missed winning the NL West. In 1983 expectations were high and they sucked. And then in 1984 Ribinson was fired nidway through the season and the Giants ended up losing 100 games for the only time in SF Giants history.

Close. Robinson was fired in 1984 and they lost like 94 games. In 1985 it was the only season in over 140 years in franchise history where they lost 100 games.

Well, at least the Braves had the highest team BA in 1983 with a composite .272.

Frank Robinson unquestionably was one of the finest players of all-time, but I never understood why he kept getting managerial jobs. He was only mediocre at best, never once making it into the postseason play.
