interesting how alex haley freely admitted in an interview that "roots" was very loosely based on history and that he was "simply trying to give his family a narrative to follow.

16:10 Kim's husband played for five different teams (Cleveland, Texas, California, Montreal, and Oakland) between 1970 and 1977. His grand slam was one that he hit on May 11, 1971 against Oakland. It wouldn't be until 2008 when another one would be hit by a pitcher on an AL team.

This incarnation of the show would reach 1,560 episodes, including the last season with Jim Caldwell as host, so it fell a few hundred short of where producer Allen Koss was hoping it would get to.
