My dad had one of these. He never took care of it, but when I asked him to borrow it back in 1988 for Prom, he said I could take it as long as I detailed it first. I did. The car looked spectacular. It was a good PROM night. ;)

The 1980-'84 Olds Ninety-Eight and Buick Electra (and the Cadillacs on the C- and D- platform until 1992) were the pinnacle of GM RWD full-size sedans. Their design has aged extremely well. There are certain elements of each one that I like - the Olds had the best steering wheel, I liked the Buick taillights and seats and the blond oak trim, the Cadillac had the best dash. Each was a beauty in their own way.

...such a classic Buick!!...I always have been partial to this generation...they're even more beautifully appointed that the Cadillac Broughams of their day...that's real wood trim on the doors...the power steering on these cars does allow one to steer with just a single finger...

...such a stately pillared sedan dressed in Polar White...truly sets off the downsized C-body platform ( I know, hard to believe the '76 Electra was a ful 11" longer...).... You can readily see that this platform was used for the Olds 98 and LeSabre, and the Bonnevilles...sharing everything but the front and rear clips (head and tail light assemblies, grilles and bumpers...)... .. I always thought that these Buicks had the most luxuriously tufted upholstery; although the Olds 98 Regency Brougham had the full raised seat bolsters aka Henredon luxury loveseats...)... ...by '85, this was the final year of production before yet another ( disastrous styling/ugly offerings from '85-'90)... While not many well preserved offerings from this era have survived; the target market of successful professionals/executives for these premium cars has meant that there are examples, like this beauty, which can still be had for reasonable prices... ...and to those who DO own them, these majestic cars make great driver quality classics...

The Caprice/Bonneville/Delta 88/LeSabre were on the B-platform which had a wheelbase a few inches shorter than the C-platform of the 98/Electra/DeVille/Brougham. This gave more rear seat leg room and also lengthened the roofline quite a bit since the rear window on the larger cars was more upright. Examine the shape of the rear doors and you will see what I mean.

❤ beautiful classic... I own a 1983 Buick Electra Park Avenue sedan - sky blue with a navy blue top & the same navy blue plush soft interior! Has a v6 4.1 liter 93,000 original miles. Mine is rust free CLEAN as well but I prefer a white one with white top I’d add a sunroof. Are you interested in selling or trading? Thank you

Hated to see it go, until I my hands on the baby Park Ave, the 1984-85 Buick LeSabre was moving up the rank and offered the previous Park Ave luxury.

Hmmm. So the Buicks put door pull straps on these rather than the hinged handle. Olds had them on the Ninety-Eight and of course the Cadillac Brougham.

The downsized 1985 Buick Electra used a scary buzzer instead of the chime like on the 1984 Buick Electra.

Very nice example...... but those seats, though they look very comfortable, really are not! .... And the Oldsmobile 307 V-8 is rather weak . . . . .
