1984 El Camino REVIVAL: The PLAN

We did it! My brother Mic and I have settled on a plan for the revival of our dad's 1984 Chevy El Camino. We have somehow merged our very different build styles and settled on a blueprint for the "Project Pops" restoration. Oh, my goodness! You ARE going for the LS! Either the 305 or the LS would be fine for me, but in the long run (and I hope you two and Project Pops have a r-e-a-l-l-y l-o-n-g run), you will like the LS engine more, I'm thinking. Since you want to paint the Elco, removing that engine should make refurbishing the engine bay a lot easier. I've always liked the understated and handsome lines of these A/G-bodies. I'm a Gbody guy and now, thanks to videos like this, I'm on a El Camino kick for a daily driver (snow/salt aside). I don't know if that's possible here without it getting stolen, but I'm going to try.

Looks like a great project! I love the VW Van, BTW. I restored the '57 Bel Air that my Dad bought new when he was in the Navy. I don't regret making it exactly the way he bought it. Congratulations on breaking 1K. You have great content.

El camino is my dream car and this is what I would do to it . floor shift. Keep the bench seats take the 305 engine out put a 383 engine in there.thats it

Talking about tunes knowing good and well you still got cassette tapes (and good ones too!)! Since you in the ATL, it was the legendary rapper Clifford Harris aka TI that said " blowing dro on 24s, thats how all my partners roll". That could be your wheel solution 😂

​​@@SkaggsGaragedo 18s in the front and 20s in the rear. Also check every single rubber and the steel around the body mounts....this is a must with any g body or a body!! Do urself a favor and go with spohns suspension and viking coil overs if they to pricey run viking shocks. Plus do the over sizes way bars.. these cars will out run and handle just as good if not better then a modern sports car. I have a el camino and a cutlass. My cutty is a road race build. All custom and fully stripped down. Oh check in corvette c5 brake upgrades!!! Man these cars are awesome.. after u rebuild them lol

Remove the smog if you’re not in an emissions state. Tune it up. Add true duals (no converters). Probably need to rebuild or replace the carb. Keep the computer carb so the trans will work right. Drive it and enjoy it a while like it is.
