and still the award for best ever Hopkins jerseys, go to these in 1984 and 1985. (and still worn in 86 and 87 home as well)

I'd love to see these guys with the modern sticks players have in 2017. These guys had incredible stick skills, with flat pockets, flat heads, gloves that fit like oversized oven mitts, slash guards that slipped to your wrist every play, and helmets as heavy as a rock.

Sticks were the same as today, close enough anyway. I played then , stick skills were primitive, individual skillets of the game were still developing. Shooting mechanics were terrible, passing was primitive.

@@jeffholt3841 sticks are NOT the same. The pockets today are deeper and ball is harder to dislodge.

I have to say this is just flat out superior to today’s game.

This team had so many Hopkins legends in it, it is absurd....and look how young most of them were....and starting. Del Dressel (Soph) Brian Wood (freshman) Craig Bubier (freshman) John DeTomasso (soph) Steve Mitchell (freshman) Larry Quinn (junior) Peter Scott (senior) John Krumenacker (junior)

Yes he was

Yeah, his positioning was second to none. Same with Quinn, the man was always in the best spot to stop shots, which I believe was why they were both so successful. Most goalies today aren't that great at positioning and rely too much on their athleticism to make saves. Some goalies really shine with their positioning though such as Dan Loftus for Duke a few years ago, he made some amazing saves look really easy because of it.

That's crazy man haha I am watching the 1994 championship game right now. Batch is the person who I built my style after.
@HealyJoe12 жыл бұрын
I got an old VHS with him and some other goalies but that is all I can find. If you find anything be sure to let me know, always a good time for more game film haha.
@HealyJoe12 жыл бұрын
He had a stellar D, No goalie in the HoF had a bad defense, except maybe Sal Locascio.

Yes, but if I had to vote for who I think my favorite coach is, it would be Duke's coach, John Danowski. From what I have heard he not only teaches lacrosse but also really helps the players in dealing with the real world and what they will be doing after college.

Agreed. I believe the best recruiter though has to be Dom Starsia, which is funny because just last year I played against someone he recruited as the 5th recruit in the nation. Back to Zimmerman though, he has done some amazing things with UMBC and I feel they can be an amazing program soon especially with him at the helm. Know I am just waiting for Bill to find a goalie like Batch to start his Denver dynasty with haha.
@HealyJoe12 жыл бұрын
Yeah, both can change the outcome of a game dramatically. Would you happen to know where I can get more film of Larry Quinn because I have the 84 and 85 championship but would like to see more.
@HealyJoe12 жыл бұрын
Yeah he is a good fit. Also, goalie has to be my favorite position on the field, whether I am playing or watching it, getting hot is one of the best feelings in the world.
@HealyJoe12 жыл бұрын
Haha that's awesome and does not surprise me in the least. Also because of their positioning they baited...a hell of a lot, which is something you really don't see goalies doing anymore. Which is a shame because it seemed like it worked amazingly for them, and their legends show it.

Yeah but poor Pressler went through hell when he did not deserve it, he was also something special, and it showed when Greer dropped everything at Duke and went to Bryant with him. Back to goalies though, can I ask what your experience is?
@HealyJoe12 жыл бұрын
Yeah he was amazing, but I think if I had to make a team I would put Sal over Quinn, just barely though.
@HealyJoe12 жыл бұрын
Very good at Xs & Os yes, but recruiting not so much. He won that championship because of the recruits who were already attending, a very good coach otherwise.

I HAD BRIAN WOOD coach me and my team (ARDEN) in Maryland at the severn high school in Maryland. He is the head coach at the Severn HighSchool. He is a GREAT coach and is really fun. I really hope to meet him again. If u check out my channel I will make a video of prizes I got. :)
