I saw some of your comments on the red one of these that sold on BAT, and found this one that you sold last year. WOW!!!! You did an amazing job restoring this car to brand new condition! Just amazing!!!!!!! A friend of mine's father imported a new one of these from Europe in either 1985 or 86, when I was a junior in high school. We got to occasionally take it out, and it was so impressive! It was faster, and handled better than anything I had ridden in or driven at that point in life. This one brings me back to the good ole days (the 1980's)!!! His was either dark grey or black, and had leather Recaro seats. I LOVE the car!!! The exhaust is amazing!!! There's just no way I would have been able to bring myself to sell it after doing all of the work you did on thins one! I just wanted to complement you on the quality of work you did! I love these kinds of builds! It's what I strive for my builds. Taking the extra steps the manufacturer couldn't while assembly as well as upgrading deficiencies in the engineering. Such a deserving car for this treatment, too!

Thank you so much! I enjoy sharing the videos and the steps, lots of work to get to this point, but such an improvement mechanically and aesthetically. I agree, this is a special car deserving of this level of work.

I have a 1986 M635 CSi - one of the 524 RHD produced from the factory for the UK market. I’ve owned it since 1993 and hope to one day fully restore and upgrade it to the level of fit and finish a car like these truly deserve. Your video is a great inspiration as to what can be achieved when time and budget allow. Great build and I look forward to seeing the finished article in great detail and hearing drive-by clips. Thanks for posting this great restoration.

My 1985 M635CSi with 175 000 km looks....well....is not comparable with yours !!! Superb work !!! Do you know how much $$$ you spent for all the work? Also what kind of transmission oil do you use. I use Mobil SHC oil as stated in the owner's manual. And what an incredible exhaust !!! Last question. I need a rear alignment ( bad camber and toe-in ) and not a single shop wants to touch the car because they told me all the suspension parts on these old BMWs are seized...Can I expect replacing some rear suspension parts if I need a rear alignment? Thank you!

Thank-you!! I spent $8,500 on parts only not incl. the exhaust. I use the factory spec Trans. oil in the Getrag. The exhaust is a thing of beauty, it is a one off and not many E24s have this kind of hand fab'd mandrel stainless exhaust on them. It was fabricated by a very talented welder here in Houston. For your rear suspension, I always use an impact gun (1/2") to break all bolts, the hammer action gets them loose. Use can buy eccentric bolts for the rear trailing arms to dial-in your rear alignment, available from Turner, ECS or BimmerWorld.

I am about to embark on a similar journey and am starting with a suspension overhaul this winter. Is there any chance you would be willing to share your parts list?
