We had almost this exact one as a kid growing up. I think the hub caps had more spikes on ours. It fit all 5 of us though.

We bought a new one and had great luck with it. They were luxurious, and it had an incredible sound system.
@sosuzguy2 жыл бұрын
Yes they did. Do you remember if it had concert sound or the Bose speaker system?
@nomebear2 жыл бұрын
The one we owed had a Concert sound system. It was better than the system in our '85 Cadillac Fleetwood. We had a great FM station that played a mix of classical, jazz, and South American Latino hits. The Riviera was literally my escape from the world vehicle.

Love the car !! I recently bought one after owning one back in the day. I noticed that you upgraded your radio, a Kenwood, very hard one compatible for this car. Can I ask you where did you get that and was it hard to put in ?
@sosuzguy Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the compliment. The stereo has been installed in the car now for probably 10 years. I just went to a local stereo store and had it installed. But I would suggest someone else do it themselves in the future, too many hacks out there.

Yeah great how you destroyed the interior by ripping out the original radio system and putting in that horrid abomination of a display that every idiot on the street thinks looks good in a car. Also the steering wheel is disgusting as well but I wont blame you for that one its probably a T-type model thats why. Exterior is beautiful in shape and color.
@sosuzguy2 жыл бұрын
Yeah well this was a FREE car, JUNKED to HELL. It is 1 of 5 in a collection, that is the modernized for daily driving or long road trips. The disgusting steering wheel (that is clean) is from a Riviera S-type car in the early 80's. Thanks for your unsolicited and bitter opinion.

Is this for sale? If so how many miles and how much
@sosuzguy2 жыл бұрын
No, I do not currently have this car for sale, but if someone is interested in buying it, I would consider $10,000 cash.

I had a steelblue '83, Riv. Astroroof, the T-type Rims & steering wheel. Lil Oldsmobile 307cid 4bbl, automatic 4spd transmission. I enjoyed it but, missed the Buick power. Gr8 car, I can imagine all the additional refinements on the '85. The ride improved with VOGUE tyres. Lamp monitors were AWESOME, avoids getting tickets.

Thank you for the video I was going to get mine painted this year and replace the vinyl top I was undecided the color, but this confirmed I'm going with the black on black I was considering a midnight navy blue with silver flakes and a black vinyl, since my seats are navy, but I think I'll just do the black and tint the windows and eventually change the interior to black leather

I owned a 1985 Riviera. It had about 75k miles on it. I always admired this body that ran from 1979 to 1985. I didn't keep mine long as it had major electrical and transmission issues almost from the day I purchased it in 2002. It was a great car to drive but it was the only used car I've ever bought that I'd categorize as a lemon. Those front wheel drives from that era had many years to go before they were perfected.
@sosuzguy3 жыл бұрын
A 17 year old car that you consider a lemon? I have five different models from this generation, no major front wheel drive issues.
@robertpace9013 жыл бұрын
@@sosuzguy yes unfortunately. I've had mostly used cars in my life and although I really liked that year Riviera, it stands out as the worst mechanically of all of the used cars I've owned. It was pretty to look at though. Likewise my aunt bought a new 1986 Cadillac Sedan DeVille and it needed a new transmission shortly after the warranty was up.
@sosuzguy3 жыл бұрын
@@robertpace901 That's a very subjective topic, as I currently have two 1985 Rivieras that are both still going on the original engine over 200k miles, my transmissions have never went out before 100k. A lot depends on how a car is driven and taken care of.
@robertpace9013 жыл бұрын
@@sosuzguy I'm happy for you that was your experience. I think you're the exception. Just like Dodge Caravans up until about 2009 were known for transmission issues.
