My parents' bought this car in 1985. We hooked up a StarCraft travel trailer and traveled from Southern Cal. to the Midwest in this thing. The car came with a complimentary cassette with classical music on one side and 80's hits on the other. Listened to that cassette about 10,000 times.

I've had 4 of these cars and have yet to find a car with more comfortable seats and softer carpet than what was in Fifth Avenue. 1987 was the last year for their plush pile carpet. The M-body version of these began in 1980 as the Lebaron Fifth Avenue, with 654 built and that is the car that became the 1982 New Yorker/New Yorker Fifth Avenue. These cars would go mostly unchanged up till the end of their 1989 production, but through every model year, slight changes would let you be able to tell what model year you were getting. Those minor changes would be the nameplate on the trunk lid, the gear shift knob, the hood ornament, vinyl top, steering wheel, rear window mounted brake light, and the biggest differences would be on the Lebaron version with its grille, Lebaron rear and tail light setup, and manual window cranks.

By seeing that first commercial I can tell where that used to be from since I lived here all my glorious life in Fort Worth, but nowadays since places haved changed I’m pretty sure where exactly that dealership was.

Back in the day, my dad bought a '81 LoBaron Station Wagon new...it was Burgundy thru & thru, & had the 225 straight 6, so it did ok on gas. It carried us to bbqs, church, & was my dad's work car. I hoped to buy it from him for my 1st car, but he "Earl Scheib'd" her white, & sold her to some punk. A few years later, I found her - still w/the lame paintjob, but looking the worse for wear on the inside. That hurt a little. Maybe I'll inquire about this 5th Avenue, because I like the color combo.

@@ronaldhuff635 I have my grandmothers 1986. I have been working on vehicles for my entire life, over 30 years. Know about taking the computer pots apart resoldering etc. Luckily mine runs good. Nice cars. Although the top can be a pain when they leak.
