1985 Forward Observer Unit G.I. Joe review

This is a review of the small battlefield accessory playset, the Forward Observer. Basically a one-man surveillance tent and large mortar, it came with many small accessories that impress collectors. First released in 1985, and re-released in 1986, this toy was made available two further times by mail-away. In late 1988 the mail-away offer issued foreign overstock from Argentina and the plastic colors were darker than the original retail release. Offered for mail-away again in 1992, UK/Europe overstock was used and "Action Force" stickers came with them. Both times, it was issued only in a set of six with the other small battlefield accessories.

Great review. I never had this unfortunately. I guess it would go well with the Cobra Bunker because of the break-apart feature.

seems like a great play set, one of the more relistic one... and of course it a two figure spotter and gunner.

I keep thinking that the "cobra surveillance port" was a mix up an was supposed to be a Joe station... Also the infiltration player with the rubber raft, the missile defense and "outpost defender" we're supposed to be cobra. But that's just me... Great work, Kevin. Yo, Joe!!!
