475hp can move 90,000lbs gross down the road up to 75mph in just under a mile and a half. Love to see that black haze in every gear.

My grandfather drove one of these for a company he just retired from (he'll occasionally work there again just to get some money or do a favor the boss has for him). He loved driving it, but im guessing that one day it just stopped working because the truck is still at the place and off to the side, the only thing i think he didn't like about it is that detroit engines were notorious for leaking oil. Yesterday he did say that if he had the money, he would repair it (he told me detroit engines were generally easy to repair) and buy it off of the boss

Yes we have had more than a few class 8 GMC trucks over the years. Everything from a 350hp cummins all the way up to a 3406b "425 stock" Cat engines. I'll try to post a few vids of our Generals doing work.

Tommy Hammond So did Chevy........the Astro twins, Chevrolet Bison/GMC General . They had some of the best cabs when it came to outward visibility. Bettered the Ford L series in terms of ergonomics. Unfortunately they couldn't keep up with the PACCAR and Freightliner products.

@@RJ1999x the 8v92 was one of the most if not the most powerful engine you could get in 1980s comparable to a 3406 cat

@@charlesuplifted5216 not even close! The Allis Chalmers "Big Al" and the Cummins 1150 were by far more powerful. Detroit's made HP but seriously lack torque

My father and I used to wrench on these old Generals back in the 80’s, so I have love hate relationship with them. They’re still one of my favorite trucks of all time. these and the W9 Kenworths and the 379 Peterbilts.
